I love making resources which are differentiated, challenging and also engaging. All main tasks will be differentiated at least 3 ways and actual lessons will have solutions with them. Area of a Triangle - Trigonometry

A series of lessons 2-4 on using 1/2abSin(C) to find the area of a triangle. The lesson allows pupils to practice the skill and then extend learning to combine it with sine and cosine rule to find area of triangles. There area also algebraic problems, bound problems and area of polygons using trigonometry. All tasks are differentiated to 3 or 4 levels to allow the skill to be practiced and then to stretch and challenge the more able. All tasks have either worked solutions or typed solutions so that the pupils can self mark. This has been used with top set year 11, all pupils engaged and made good progress.

A series of lessons (2-3) on using similarity to find areas and volumes. The lesson has 2 RAG sheets on area and volume which are differentiated to 3 levels. The lesson also includes problem solving tasks such as algebra, finding different scale factors and using them accordingly to find missing lengths, areas and volumes. Used on top set year 11 and all were engaged and challenged All tasks are differentiated, 2-4 levels for each task to make it accessible to all pupils but also to stretch the more able. All tasks have full solutions to it is easy to peer and self assess during the lesson. The lesson includes reasoning and problem solving tasks which ensure that this is suitable for the 9-1 GCSE curriculum. I have used this lesson and pupils were engaged yet challenged.

It includes to basics of two separate shapes, it also has tasks on a 'triangle within a triangle' ect which will challenge the more able pupils. A series of lessons (1-2) on finding the area of a triangle. It allows the pupils to learn the basics but quickly gets into reverse questions and also compound shape questions. There are then problem solving questions linking triangles and rectangles. The lesson then has some more challenging compound shape questions and then an algebraic question to really challenge the more able pupils. All tasks are differentiated, 2-4 levels for each task to make it accessible to all pupils but also to stretch the more able. There is a differentiated task which ensures pupils can work with whole numbers as well as decimals. The lesson then works through reverse problems, worded problems as well as reasoning questions. It also introduces the idea of estimation to prepare pupils for a series of lessons on estimation. This lesson contains plenty of problem solving and reasoning tasks which will prepare all pupils for the 9-1 curriculum. A series of lessons (2-4) on finding the volume and the surface area of cones, spheres and pyramids. The lesson allows pupils to practice the skills as well as developing their skills to work with compound solids. It then stretches the more able pupils to work with algebra. All tasks are differentiated either 3 or 4 levels. All tasks have solutions so pupils can self mark with some of the solutions handwritten so pupils can see a full worked solutions. This has been used with classes of varying ability and all have been able to access the lesson up to their desired ability. There are problem solving tasks, reasoning tasks ect to suit the new 9-1 curriculum. This has been taught to top set year 7 and set 3 year 10 who were fully engaged and liked the challenge of working with new formulae.
