This lesson was designed to be delivered to KS4 top set but can easily be tailored for lower sets. Initially goes into a description of radiation and introduces Geiger counters. Then goes on to discuss the 3 radiation types (alpha, beta and gamma). QR codes linking to pages for research projects, differentiated for difficulty. Examples of everyday uses for each radiation type. Plenary is exam style questions.

Teacher lead lesson which can be tailored to be used with student research. Easily delivered to KS3 or KS4. Introduces students to the topics of waves. Describes the motions and uses animated diagrams to show the difference in the direction the energy travels. Animation also included to show how only wave moves but the object does not. Clear examples of labeling wave diagrams including wavelength and amplitude. Followed by practice to test student’s understanding. Word match activity to ensure understanding of key terminology. Answers provided. Plenary is exam style questions for lower and higher tier. Answers provided.

Introduces transverse and longitudinal waves with examples. Describes structure of waves and assists with labelling diagrams. I've included differentiated worksheets and alternative homework. Originally delivered to top set year 8 but easily altered for different ability groups. This lesson lends itself well to using a slinky.
