Who doesn’t love a bit of colouring in?! This resource contains 7 original hand drawn houses inspired by the colourful houses on the island of Burano. If you’re after a wall display for your classroom, you can get your students to cut out their houses and then stick them up in a row to make a piece of collective artwork - teamwork makes the dream work, right?!
I instantly fell in love with the island of Burano on my whistle-stop trip there last year. I loved how despite being a seemingly random array of colours and a little wonky, everything just looked so in place. Perfectly imperfect.
I’m super excited to create more classroom resources inspired by my travels! Here’s what I’ve created so far - hope you find something that takes your fancy!
Alphabet Wall Display | Travel Inspired Classroom Decor | Venice | Bright Theme
Alphabet Wall Display | Travel Inspired Classroom Decor | Venice | Blush Theme
Word Wall | Alphabet & Sight Words | Travel Inspired Classroom Decor | Venice
Number Wall Display | Travel Inspired Classroom Decor | Venice | Bright Pastels
Student Name Tags for Desks | Travel Inspired Classroom Decor | Venice | Burano

Count to 20 in style with this number wall display inspired by Burano, Venice! This is the perfect addition to your primary school classroom, giving you a taste of travel and creating a colourful display that students will love too!
This resource contains 3 sets of numbers 1-20, designed to be cut out, laminated and displayed. The first set were hand drawn by me - hope you like them! Just in case you’re after less ‘busy’ displays, I’ve also created a couple of simplified versions so you can still get your splash of colour without the extras! There are 2 numbers per A4 page (each letter is approx. A5 size).
My inspiration for this classroom display came from my whistle-stop trip to Burano, one of the islands north west of Venice. I instantly fell in love with the bright colours and how everything seemed so ‘in place’ despite the seemingly random placement of colours. Using my photos as the starting point, I came up with several colour schemes and sketched different housing designs to import into and edit on Illustrator. The colour scheme of this resource is bright pastels!
I’m going to continue designing classroom decor products inspired by my travels so keep your eyes peeled!
Enjoy!

The start of term is always hectic but is also a super exciting time to recreate your classroom space for your next group of students! If you’re after some more travel-inspired classroom deco, check out these other products also inspired by Burano:

A blank printable KWL grid for students to record what they Know (K), Want to know (W) and Learnt (L) about a topic.
KWL charts are ideal to use in Reading lessons before and after reading a non-fiction text or watching an informative video. You can also use them at the beginning of a Science, Humanities or Topic unit of work to gain insight into your students’ prior knowledge.
Not to mention, it’s a fantastic tool for your students! By prompting them to activate their prior knowledge, they’ll be primed to connect existing and new knowledge and actively engage with the information that comes their way!
This resource comes in portrait and landscape versions.

Launch into learning about climate change with this set of picture prompts! This resource comes with 10 thought-provoking pictures as well as a recording worksheet for students.
If you’re looking for an engaging way to introduce a new topic to your students, ‘See Think Feel Wonder’ is the way to go! Use this activity to spark discussion and explore students’ prior knowledge and perceptions. The aim is to encourage students to dig deeper than just surface-level observations and GET CURIOUS about the world around them.
My favourite way to use this in class is as a Bus Stop or Carousel activity. For this, you’ll want to print off the photos (A4 or A3-sized) and spread them out around the classroom. Split students into small groups and get them to move between each of the stations, discussing and recording their thoughts.
Post-it-notes are a great way for students to record their ideas anonymously and can later be collated to guide a whole class discussion. If you’d like students to record their responses for their workbooks, I’ve included a template for you to use at the end of this resource. I’ve also included some headings which you can print off to create a wall display alongside the picture prompts and student responses.
