Pastoral Booklet - Building Resilience KS3
This booklet is designed to target KS3 learners to build resilience. It helps students to understand what the term ‘resilience’ means and assess how they can develop this skill.
At the end of the booklet, students are tasked to create a Resilience Passport where they identify effective strategies to implement on a daily basis.
Differentiated Assessment: Nando's Takeaway Menu
The idea is that if students are given a choice, they are more likely to feel like they have control and will engage with the assessment (lower ability students can also be directed).
Using the heat rating from Nando’s, students should target the success criteria detailed.
The attached takeaway menu details a creative writing task to accompany Roald Dahl’s ‘Lamb to the Slaughter’. However, this takeaway menu could be amended to suit any task.
KS3 Spoken Language Booklet and SOW
Spoken Language Booklet to introduce key paralinguistic terms to KS3 students.

Language Techniques Acronym - Teach your students 24 language techniques!
A useful acronym to teach a variety of language devices.
Students should use the completed PowerPoint to match the examples to the correct device (examples have been jumbled within each word).
An extra test has been included to act as a revision aid after the language devices have been learned.
Reading for Pleasure Incentive: Bookflix Display
Replicating the home screen of ‘Netflix’, the Bookflix display board encourages students to engage with reading for pleasure.
Topics include: Teen fiction/Because you liked/Trending now and Read again.
Use black paper for the background to make your display pop and look similar to the Netflix colours.
KS3 Spelling Booklets - Differentiated
Lower and higher ability spelling booklets to target Key Stage 3 learners.
Literacy Whole School Tasks - Understanding Exam Terminology
Students are encouraged to develop a greater understanding of key exam words, including: discuss, summarise and imply. Key words are commonly used across all subjects. PowerPoints attached to accompany Word document for each week, to consolidate knowledge.
Task could be used during Form period as a whole school literacy focus and shared on the school’s social media platforms.
