How to Train Your Dragon is an incredible book to study, and this Chapter 15-19 unit pack helps to engage children in the text right from the start. This resource spreads across 4 tasks (these could be set weekly or daily) which last for an hour each. Writing prompt/stimulus based on retelling the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Teaching PowerPoint and 4-way differentiated planning sheets included in this 29-Page pack. This class assembly lasts for 15 minutes and includes 18 roles that range from having a single line up to having 6. In the pack, you will receive the PDF copy and an editable Word Document format. In order to edit this document and maintain the formatting, you must install the two fonts also included in this download. Week 3 of 6- A no-prep lesson that explores sketching and shading techniques whilst drawing natural objects from observation. Children in grades 1-3 will learn to critique peer’s artwork kindly and use high-level artistic vocabulary to describe their own work. A perfect art unit for Autumn, Spring or Summer! This product contains a 16-slide Teaching PowerPoint that guides students through developing a sketching technique whilst looking at the definitions of topical vocabulary such as line, shape, texture, pattern, tone and sketch. Using the worksheet provided, children are encouraged to draw natural objects such as leaves or flowers with sketching pencils, using the ‘tickle the spider’ technique explained on the slides. Examples of what work may look like are included. This activity can be conducted as a class, or in smaller wellbeing groups to work on mindfulness or calming SEN children during the chaos of the school day. The focus is on gaining digital literacy skills, such as photo editing, uploading and downloading images from Google, cutting out images from their backgrounds and arranging them aesthetically. This lesson is likely to take 1.5-2 hours, and requires the use of natural objects obtained on a nature walk (either in a previous lesson in this unit or at the start of this one!) If you don’t have access to outdoor space for your students, images from online search engines can be used! This pack includes 4 activities. The main activity has three tasks that involve classifying words into 1 of 7 categories. This opens up for lots of conversation and debate, which is a great basis for a lesson. This is a set of resources that I use for my year 3 and 4 group. They are Egyptian themed so that they can link in with humanities topic. Shape poems are a great introduction to writing in a poetic structure for children, and the shapes offered in this pack are: canopic jars, a sarcophagus and a pyramid.
