Here is a ‘desert-island adventure’-themed, home learning project that will be used whilst the children are off school- it’s perfect for distance learning due to the tasks being able to be completed independently. This resource spreads across 5 tasks (could be set weekly or daily) which last for an hour-long each. I’m currently teaching a How To Train Your Dragon unit, and this activity is to contextualize math skills for the children. In this book review, children are asked to summarise the main parts of the story, give their opinion on the story as a whole, state the funniest, scariest and favorite parts, rate the story from 1-5, explain if they would recommend the book, and discuss who their favourite and least favourite characters were. This works great as a post-text exercise, and also works as a movie review if you are following the feature film instead. Reviewing books helps children know that it’s okay to like or dislike a book, and also allows them to work out what their favorite genres are. Week 5 of 12- An exploration of daily life as an Egyptian slave, a merchant and a nobleman in the ancient Egyptian civilization. Children will create a daily schedule and engage in drama activities to immerse in the topic. This product contains an 24-slide Teaching PowerPoint and 4 main tasks that can be printed or completed digitally via PDF copies. The PPT guides students through learning the key details about daily life as 3 different sects of society: Slaves, merchants and nobles. The first task sees children reading and understanding definitions of topical vocabulary, then matching them up to the words using the worksheets included in this pack. A pack of 4 chapter-based projects based on JK Rowling’s new book, The Ickabog. 20 activities (each with multiple tasks) that are grammar, punctuation, reading and creative themed. ~ This resource can be used in the classroom or electronically! ~ JK Rowling has published her new children’s book, The Ickabog, online for everybody to enjoy whilst at home. She is also hosting an illustration competition for children to design her characters and setting- the winners will be published with the book in November 2020! With each project file, you will receive: PDF version of the Home Learning project Editable .docx Word document version of the project 2 fonts to edit resources with Chapter 1 Project: With 4 jam-packed tasks (each with multiple activities), children will work through the first chapter: drawing the main characters & settings, designing the famous Cornucopia pastries, finding definitions for tricky words and creating a fantasy map for the country.
