Use the order of operations (BIDMAS) to reveal a secret maths joke. Make your students feel like a spy trying to crack a code in a fun and novel way for students to practice the order of operations. This product contains 3 different levels of difficulty: order of operations with multiplying, dividing, adding and subtracting - BIDMAS with brackets and the 4 operations - BIDMAS including indices. This will keep students really busy and help them to check their own working as they go. This is perfect for consolidation on the order of operations if you don’t want to use a traditional worksheet. Each difficulty is colour coded (blue =easy, gold = medium, red = hard). All the answers are included. The unit covers skills pupils will need to create their own pair gymnastics routines including individual balances, pair balances, rotations, jumps and compositional aspects. Accompanying powerpoints for some lessons This SOW / set of 6 lesson plans for gymnastics covers the following skills and objectives: Lesson 1 - Basic shapes - Know and demonstrate the basic shapes in gymnastics and apply them to a variety of different contexts. To develop control, fluency, tension and extension. To understand the compositional aspect of levels. Lesson 2 Rotations - To accurately replicate a variety of rotations. To know where the axis of rotation are. To apply skills learnt into a sequence Lesson 3 – Jumps - To accurately replicate a variety of jumps. To apply skills learnt into a sequence Lesson 4 – Individual balances - To accurately replicate balances individually. Lesson 5 – pair balances - To accurately replicate pair balances. Lesson 6 – Composition and assessment - To develop and apply knowledge of compositional aspects. This SOW was created to save time for busy teachers. You should be able to teach a lesson with minimal preparation, maybe watching a few videos before hand or printing out some resources. Please ensure you understand the health and safety aspects of gymnastics before teaching this unit. Refer to Teaching safe practice in Physical Education by BAALPE if need be. The scheme has powerpoints, diagrams, animate GIFS, assessment levels, differentiation , teaching points, Assessment for learning/plenary activities, links to videos that show the skill, clear explanations of the tasks and all resources and links to the resources required via the lesson plan. No timings are included as each school can vary in terms of lesson time. They should provide enough tasks for lessons of 40 minutes and above. This netball lesson is a comprehensive lesson plan for footwork and pivoting in netball for beginners. It will be most appropriate for year 7 netball lessons OR for year 8 lower ability. The lesson includes: learning the names and areas of the position, how to make decisions when passing, game play, AFL quiz quiz trade cards, instructional cards for positions and for centre pass set up (which could also be used as display posters). If you want to assess the quality of my work check out a free lesson on passing and receiving in netball (year 7) here. This lesson is the 4th in my year 7 series. Find lesson 3 on footwork and pivoting here and the SOW/set of lesson plans for year 7 here. This was created to save time for busy teachers and is made so teachers with little/no netball experience can teach it just as well as those with lots. You should be able to teach a lesson with minimal preparation and I made these so in most cases they can be just picked up and taught. This lesson has assessment levels, clear teaching points, afl opportunities, a set of instructional cards, a set of plenary cards and clear explanations of the tasks. There are no timings included as each school can vary in terms of lesson time. They should provide enough tasks for lessons of 40 minutes and above. This product is designed to help with the composition of gymnastics routines and more specifically relationships between partners (matching and mirroring & canon and unison). Included: 2 A4 landscape pages showing illustrations of matching and mirroring balances. This could either be used as a display or as a help card. An A4 scaffolded task card students can use to help them with creating a sequence Practical application in a lesson: Give the lower ability pairs the matching and mirroring display posters for them to accurately replicate the balances on there Give the middle ability students the task card to work through Give the higher ability studets a sheet of balances and tell them they have to include matching and mirroring & canon and unsion in a short sequence. This Christmas maths colour by number fun activity will give students lots of practice of finding percentages of a number. A great seasonal activity to engage students this Christmas. The resource is differentiated into 3 different difficulties - finding 10% multiples, finding 5% multiples and finding 1% multiples. The outcome for each sheet is the same even though the questions are different. This resource can be used for all your KS3 and KS4 groups - let KS4 students differentiate for themselves, give lower ability groups the 10% multiples and give higher ability groups the 1% multiples. A fun easy activity for the end of christmas term BUT students will still be completing more than 300 questions on percentages! Students need to answer the questions and find which colour corresponds to the answers in order to reveal a Christmas picture. This particular picture reveals a Christmas tree. A SOW / set of 7 lesson plans for volleyball. This unit of work would be most appropriate for students that have never had volleyball lesson before or for a lower ability set that have had one unit of volleyball lessons. This SOW covers the following skills: Ball familiarisation (available free here) The volley Developing the volley The dig (using a reciprocal card) The underarm serve Passing and game play This SOW was created to save time for busy teachers and is made so teachers with little/no volleyball experience can teach it just as well as those with lots. You should be able to teach a lesson with minimal preparation (mainly using youtube to view drills) and I made these so in most cases they can be just picked up and taught. The scheme has diagrams, All/Most/SOME outcomes, differentiation , teaching points, links to videos that show the skill, appropriate resource cards and clear explanations of the tasks. A lesson on reflections for use in a secondary transformations unit(whoe unit available here). Power point and work booklet for teaching reflections are included. Skills covered are reflecting a shape in a line on a square grid, reflecting a shape across a straight line on a coordinate grid, describing the reflection. Time saving resource for busy teachers! You should be able to teach a lesson with hardly any preparation (mainly printing!). Fully differentiated objectives: Blue:Reflect given shapes on a grid. Gold:Reflect given shapes on a coordinate grid using a line such as x = 2 Red:Describe fully a reflection. This resource includes: • A PowerPoint • Differentiated Work booklet that includes self-assessment sections The PowerPoint includes everything you need to teach reflections, including animated examples. The lessons use the following format: • Objective and levels • A “how to teaching portion” with animated examples • An AfL miniwhiteboard quiz • Answers to all the booklet questions • Plenary (with answers) The powerpoint and booklet are currently set up for GCSE maths grade, however you can edit the grades to reflect KS3 or your own schools assessment criteria. In the word booklet if you change any grade (e.g the blue section) it should automatically change the rest of that colour into the same grade. This is one powerpoint slide on what is needed to compose a gymnastics routine. It is fully editable and I have embeded the font into the powerpoint. Suggestions for use: At the beginning of a unit so students know how much goes into a routine After students have “finished” their routine - film students/get another student to watch and focus on one aspect then improve that aspect before moving onto the next As a whole group in a sequence lesson - concentrate on one aspect at a time Give to higher ability students before they start their routines so they can work all the aspects in when they are creating their routine Give to no doers so they can evaluate and improve other students work This is the compositional aspects I have mentioned in my assessment criteria sheet.
