In this workbook, students follow 10 steps to produce an information text on mountains. Students are guided through research, planning, organisation and editing. Opportunities to explore new vocabulary and topic sentences are also included. Throughout the work book, models are provided to aid understanding.

Reading Comprehension task with a focus on compare and contrast. This activity features a table of information about 4 mountains. Students have to answer questions based on the info from basic recall to more advanced inference. Answers are included, as are extension activities.

5 x Reading activities with a mountain theme, ideal for cross-curricula teaching and learning. Each extract is taken from a diary or memoir of a mountain climber, including a report from Mount Everest, and John Muir discussing his own travels. Students have to locate a series of words within the text - like a wordsearch. My class enjoy having a time limit and seeing who can find the most. This resource could be used in Guided Reading, as an English starter or as part of a broader Geography topic to inspire the students.
