Lesson 1 of a 13 lesson unit on the First World War aimed at KS3 students. In this lesson there are 11 resources on the Great Powers of Europe in 1914. Interesting fact files on Austria-Hungary, Germany, Britain, France and Russia which look at their leaders, problems, aims and ambitions. Pupils have to work out how the alliances of the Triple Entente and Triple Alliance formed and then colour code a map of Europe.

This lesson examines why Henry II quarrelled with Thomas Becket and looks at how the Church hindered justice because of sanctuary, Church Courts and trial by ordeal. Includes a 12 mark exam question and a model answer.

I find that students find the events from 1989-1991 difficult to understand and so I have done these model answers to help. Designed to boost cultural capital this information PowerPoint, 30 question quiz and teacher answers looks at fashion in Britain in the 1940’s, 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s. I designed this to take place in form time over 2 days. The form tutor goes through the PowerPoint one day and the following day the class divides into groups of 4 and do the quiz.
