Here we have 4 Class Ensembles based on simple African cyclical patterns using call and response, improvised tunes and ostinato using the pentatonic scale of G (G A B D E).
They are all available in Scorch, PDF and Power Point format to perform, there is a detailed document with a step by step guide explaining how to teach the ensembles and also a Power Point presentation with a series of warm up games with sound files.
We’ve based the series on rhythms linked to fun words relating to Africa.
They progress in difficulty – the easiest ensemble being number 1.

This resource introduces the polyrhythmic style of Latin American Samba and identifies its roots in African and Spanish/Portuguese music.

Here is a full analysis of the RAVEL Piano Concerto in G Major which is one set work for WJEC A Level Course. The resource has been created for teachers to work through step by step with students and they will require a full score to be able to understand connections made with the work.
Here is a series of exercises for students currently studying for the WJEC AS level music course. There is a WORD version for students and a teacher version which include the answers. They include three full exercise on each of the following set works and have been divided into the six relevant area.
This is a second series of 10 Classroom Ensembles, which can be used during Key Stage 2 .
