Calculating Concentration GCSE Chemistry lesson (SC9b CC9b) Calculations

(0)
This PowerPoint (plus worksheet) are designed to introduce the meaning of concentration in Chemistry and teaches students how to use cubic decimetres to calculate concentration of solutions in g dm-3. The lesson is accessible for students, easy to follow for teachers and is required learning for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers. Be aware: this resource covers concentration in g dm-3 only. Triple Science students will also need to learn about concentrations in mol dm-3 but this is covered in a later lesson, once moles have been introduced Follow-up lessons on Calculations involving Mass are available from my shop individually or, alongside this lesson, as part of a whole-topic bundle.

KS3 Practical Assessment - Mixtures & Separation 7E - Double Lesson PowerPoint

(0)
This PowerPoint allows two lessons to be taught in which students observe several separation techniques, answer (and mark) in-depth analysis questions, then use the same techniques to process rock salt and produce a purer form of table salt. The format of the lesson is designed to begin embedding core practical analysis skills at an early age. This lesson is best taught at the end of the Year 7 Mixtures and Separations topic. The lesson is in keeping with the current KS3 UK National Curriculum, is easily accessible for students and simple to follow for teachers.

Reactions of Metals, Sacrificial Protection and Balanced Equations Year 9 Double Lesson (KS3 9Fb)

(1)
These lesson PowerPoints (with suggested practical task) will allow you to deliver two lessons to a broad range of abilities. Lesson 1 introduces the reactivity series of metals, sets up a simple experiment and then focuses on balancing chemical equations. Lesson 2 builds upon these skills by looking at the reactions of metals with oxygen, water and acids. The lesson is in keeping with the current KS3 UK National Curriculum, is easily accessible for students and simple to follow for teachers.
Conservation of Mass in Reactions GCSE Lesson (SC9b CC9b)

Conservation of Mass in Reactions GCSE Lesson (SC9b CC9b)

(1)
This PowerPoint is designed to introduce the Law of Conservation of Mass, closed systems and looks at simple examples of conservation of mass in solutions and chemical reactions. This lesson is accessible for students, easy to follow for teachers and is required learning for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers. Be aware: this resource covers the basics; it does not deal with more complex ideas linked to conservation of mass (e.g., reacting masses) as they are covered in a later lesson. As such, this content may take a whole lesson to cover with weaker students but will be completed very quickly with higher-ability / motivated students. Follow-up lessons on Calculations involving Mass are available from my shop individually or, alongside this lesson, as part of a whole-topic bundle.
