Planning for a unit of work based on Addition with some subtraction. Works alongside the unit of work on Subtraction which is sold separately. Flipchart includes a week of work on addition and some subtraction. Begins with mental addition and subtraction with some use of Singapore Bar method and then moving into the formal method of addition for year 3/4. Includes worksheets and reasoning challenges adapted from the White Rose Scheme of work.
Short unit of work based on food chains with oracy links.
Leads to an explanation text about food chains. Includes modelled text on the flipchart.
Exploratory learning to being with leading to teacher taught session to consolidate learning.
2 week Performance Poetry planning perfect for year 3/4. Includes build up to understanding and performing poetry and then moving onto writing their own poem using a frame based on a popular poem style. My year group responded very well to this planning and thoroughly enjoyed producing their own poems and performing them to one another. They also loved playing critics and had fun evaluating their own performances as well as those of others.
Planning is in the form of a flipchart and includes other necessary resources. Marking ladders for work to be completed are included as well as a modelled text which can be used to model to the children how their poems might sound.
Handwriting for the autumn term to support your children to develop a thesaurus and help them use a wider vocabulary within their own writing.
Planning begins with synonyms and builds to use of show don’t tell strategies.
