Group Talk encourages students to use the language in more casual, conversational settings. Put up a PowerPoint with pictures of various branded snacks, video games, television shows, movies, etc and get the students to use their knowledge of the language along with these crib sheets to engage in debates; expressing their opinions, agreeing and disagreeing with one another. There are three KS 3 sheets. Level 1 for Year 7, Level 2 for Year 8, Level 3 for Year 9, or can be used most specifically for differentiation within year groups. There is also a higher level, more mature sheet aimed at GCSE students. Get your students speaking more spontaneously and try not to correct small mistakes! Although I have listed these resources under 'displays and posters', I have found it helpful to have a set of each laminated ready to give out to the class when needed. An authentic text on the topic of the invention of a screen which can be rolled up. Pack includes three activities. Activity 1: English comprehension questions based on text. Activity 2: A table completion exercise that encourages students to look for links between verbs, nouns and adjectives, based on vocabulary presented in text. For example, when presented with the word ‘creador’, students are asked to find a verb and adjective which link to that word (crear, creativo/creado).
