In this engaging and informative lesson, students develop a deeper understanding of the Bennet sisters in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. In particular, students compare and contrast the sisters’ physical and emotional characteristics, and comprehend how each sister is implicated within the plot. The lesson follows a step-by-step learning journey, in which students learn through: - Playing a fun quiz to determine ‘Which Sister?’ is involved in different plot events; - Reading and understanding how the sisters are introduced in the novel, using relevant textual evidence; - Retrieving information from the text to create character profiles for each sister, including their age, physical and emotional descriptions; - Comparing and contrasting each of the Bennet sisters analytically; - Peer assessing each other’s learning attempts. Included is: - Whole lesson PowerPoint - colourful and comprehensive; - Extracts from Chapters 1, 2, and 3; - 'Character Profile task resources - in Word and PDF form; - Supportive and clear essay template; - Comprehensive lesson plan. This is the fourth lesson in the series, which focuses on making the body of the vehicle. Children: -Recall how wheel and axle mechanisms work; -Recall key terminology relating to wheel and axle mechanisms; -Understand how to use nets to create strong cube/ cuboid shapes; -Understand how to use a variety of materials to make windscreens/ spare wheels/ bumpers/ roofs; -Test and improve their vehicle. The resource is made up of a 13-slide PowerPoint presentation and the nets needed for the cube/ cuboid shapes. These lessons were originally created for children in years 2 and 3, but may be adapted for slightly older and younger year groups.

This purposeful and original collective worship session aims to inspire children to be aspirational, through: -Understanding what aspiration is and recognising why it is important; -Finding out about successful and inspirational people who have been aspirational, gone on inspiring journeys and reached their goals (examples include Ed Sheeran, Beth Mead and Malala Yousafzai); -Understanding what the Bible teaches about aspiration through engagement with relevant scripture; -Demonstrating the power of aspiration through a powerful video - followed by discussion questions; -Looking at their own lives and considering how they can apply aspiration strategies (e.g. setting SMART targets, etc.) -Ending with reflection, a prayer and a well-linked hymn. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. It is comprehensive (23 slides in total - there is enough material for a 30-40 minute session or two 20-minute sessions). The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. No further resources are required - everything that you need to present the worship is included. The PowerPoint presentation is fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included guidance notes to assist the speaker just in case. Hope that you find this useful!

This fun and original collective worship session assists children in understanding the value of peace, through: Understanding what peace is, and recognising why it is important; Understanding what Christianity/ the bible teaches us about peace; Looking at examples of behaviour that is peaceful and not peaceful and considering what can be done to promote peace; Learning strategies to demonstrate peacefulness in their own lives. This session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. The session also includes an engaging bible story (shown and told on a video - included), detailing how Abigail’s peaceful outlook prevented her husband from facing a devastating conflict. Furthermore, there are interesting scenarios (with scripts provided) that enable children to consider how to act peacefully in different situations. Various discussion prompts are also presented, to enable children to understand how peace can be a force for good in their own lives. The slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included two pages of notes to assist the speaker. Hope that you find this useful!

This engaging and original assembly/ collective worship session aims to provide children with an understanding of the Saint Peter and how he became a disciple of Jesus. It was originally delivered as the first in a series of three collective worship sessions on Saint Peter. The aims of the session are to consider: -How Peter became a disciple of Jesus; -What personal qualities he showed when Jesus called him; -How we can apply these qualities in our own lives. The colourful and comprehensive presentation guides the worship leader and the children through the following journey: -Sharing prior knowledge about Saint Peter and establishing the basic information about who he was/ what he is known for; -Watching an engaging, age-appropriate video which shows how Simon and Andrew first followed Jesus, and how Jesus named Simon ‘Peter.’ -Engaging with a short passage of scripture which delves deeper into why the name ‘Peter’ was appropriate; -Considering the personal qualities that Peter displayed throughout his his first meetings with Jesus; -Reflecting on our own spirituality - how can we apply the personal qualities shown by Peter into our own lives in the modern world? -Participating in related song and prayer. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. If everything is kept in, it takes around 30 minutes to deliver, but you may choose to edit or amend some elements of the session. All links to videos/ hymns are included in the PowerPoint as hyperlinks. No further resources are required - everything that you need to present the session is included!
