Responding to Work - Marking & Feedback

Responding to Work - Marking & Feedback

(1)
Make marking and responding to a piece of work simple. The attached ‘Responding to Work’ form is called, ‘Can we fix it? … YES WE CAN.’ You can use this form at the end of a lesson, after a test, at the end of a small or large topic (just about anything). It’s easy to follow, adaptable and quick … just follow the instructions below! Type in the ‘I can statements’ in the first box. These can be the ‘success criteria’ from a lesson or ‘specific’ areas within a topic (e.g. Time). I’ve attached an example form. Then, when you mark a child’s piece of work, tick the ‘I can statements’ the child has achieved. Then choose 1 ‘I can’ statement that HASN’T BEEN ACHIEVED and make this the child’s NEXT STEP (get the child to write this in the ‘next step’ box). Allow the child time to practice this next step/skill/target … this doesn’t have to be done straight away, but the sooner the better! Once the child has demonstrated they have achieved the 'NEXT STEP ‘independently’, staple (or stick) the evidence on the right hand side.
Measuring VOLUME - Record Sheet

Measuring VOLUME - Record Sheet

Preparation: . Probably one of the most difficult PRACTICAL lessons to plan and execute, BUT it is doable! My suggestion: Choose a sunny day (as you will need to do this lesson on the playground). Bring in a variety of small/medium-sized plastic containers from home (about 10) and label them (1 - 10). Bring in lots of large buckets too … if you have a class of 30, you will need 8 buckets. You could ask the children to bring in some from home too! Arrange the small/medium-sized containers in a large hoop on the playground. Give each group of 4 children a bucket of water … YES, a bucket!! Don’t panic! Give each group a small and large measuring cylinder and a small and large measuring jug. . **Activity: ** . Using the equipment provided, each group must choose a plastic container (from the hoop) to estimate then measure (using their equipment). Record estimates and actual measurements on the sheet provided. . Extension Activities: . Calculate the DIFFERENCE between the estimate and actual measurement for each container. FUN FUN FUN: You could always have a water fight at the end! Fully editable!
