This lesson focuses upon the attempts of the Favela Bairro Project in Rio de Janeiro to improve the quality of life in the favelas. It recalls the problems of Rio (housing/traffic/waste) and then introduces the project and students look at what has been done and comment upon its success (+/-). All resources and exam questions are included.
