This lesson looks at the appointment of Gorbachev and the reasons for why he wanted to reform the Soviet Union. It then goes on to examine the events that led to the loss of Soviet control in Eastern Europe, the end of the Warsaw Pact and the fall of Gorbachev. There is exam practice and excellent student activities to complete.
