Every day in the run up to the GCSE exams we are intending to put up two GCSE problems of the day on Twitter. Here are the files you can use in the classroom. For each problem there are some variations that you might want to use instead or in addition.
The first two problems are suitable for foundation and higher and the second are suitable for higher.
The first problems can focus on percentages and the second problem students will need to form an equation.
The second problems involve forming a simultaneous equation and equating two fractional expressions.
We hope you enjoy using them. Please tweet your student solutions to @WRMathsHub for a chance to win a prize
This worksheet is part of our November resources competition. This activity could be used when moving from multiplying a decimal with an integer, to multiplying decimals with decimals.
The purpose of the activity is to look at the relationship between the question cards in each group and discuss how they are connected and conceptually why this works.
Could also be used as a concentration (match game) style activity.
Remember to submit your own resource for your chance to win a prize in our November resource competition. More details can be found here.

One of the most frequent requests we get as a Maths Hub is for a suggested long term curriculum plan for mathematics at KS3. We have listened to what teachers need and the following overviews have been developed by secondary practitioners in conjunction with the White Rose Maths Hub to provide a curriculum plan.
Alongside these curriculum plans, our aim is also to provide an assessment for each term. There are two versions of the assessment:
Paper A: Support for lower attaining students
Paper B: For the core with appropriate challenge
You can use these assessments to determine gaps in your students’ knowledge and use them to plan support and intervention strategies.
Our assessments are designed to test students understanding. They support teaching approaches such as bar modelling, place value grids, other part whole diagrams and using concrete materials to introduce topics.
We hope you find them useful. If you have any comments about this document or have any ideas please do get in touch.
