Six week pet care club

Welcome to Woodgreen’s six week pet club! Pet club consists of six taught sessions so is ideal for a weekly lunchtime or after school club. The club is suitable for KS2 children, ideally years five and six but can be delivered right across the key stage. We recommend a group size of up to 20 depending on age and ability, although smaller groups will benefit from more hands on opportunities. The club is fun, fast paced, packed full of simple activities and supported each week by a pre-recorded presentation filled with images and videos to support key messages. You do not need to be a pet expert to run a pet club – in fact you don’t need to know anything about pets, everything you need to know is provided! Each of the first five weeks of pet club are based around the five welfare needs, the things all animals need to be healthy and happy. We have broken these down into easy to remember bite size chunks and made them relevant for most common pets. The six weeks of pet club are: Home Diet Companionship Vet care Normal behaviour Ambassador week At the start and end of the club we ask children to complete a short quiz so that you can measure their change in knowledge and empathy towards animals. Results will be collated by Woodgreen and shared with you to celebrate the journey the children have taken. In the final ambassador week of pet club, children will explore how they would like to share their learning with the school community. Through running a pet club, you will be making a positive difference to people and pets in your local community, while having a lot of fun throughout the journey. When you are ready to start your club, pop us an email and we can send out your pet pledge booklets and stickers so you are all ready to go. Have fun!
