I prepared this for a year 8 class, so they would have all of the vocabulary for the topic and the opportunity to practise roleplays, all on one sheet. Includes basic pricing, lots of food items and some non-food items.

I wrote this text to give my Year 10s some tenses practice. The text is about la fête national on 14th July and has examples of the present, perfect, imperfect, near-future and future tense verbs. There are some reading comprehension questions underneath as well.

Hospitals - Before and After Florence Nightingale

(0)
After teaching about the wonderful work of Florence Nightingale, I created a worksheet for my mixed Year 1/Year 2 class so they could draw and write about the differences she made. On one side, the children have to draw what hospitals were like before Florence arrived in Scutari. On the other side, they have to draw what hospitals were like after she made her changes. There is space underneath each drawing space for the children to write.

Roll a Silly Sentence - KS1 resource

I made these Roll a Silly Sentence games for my mixed Year 1 and 2 class. My year 1s have just started Phase 5 phonics so I have made the words in the first three columns decodable to the level they are currently at (as of November 2023). The final column is not completely decodable for Year 1s, but is fine for Year 2s. We were learning about and using adverbs, so this column supports that learning. Have fun!

I wrote this text for a Year 9 top set as part of our Quand j’étais petit topic. The text is a comparison between a person and their grandad. It uses the present and imperfect tenses with a Find the French activity underneath. I used it as a model text to lead on to my class creating their own written piece in the same style.

This game is an adaptation of another I found on TES. The students have to create Im (Sommer) kann man… sentences while playing against their partner :-) I gave this to my top set Year 8 class.

Present Tense Recap - Gap Fill

I created this gap fill activity for Year 8 - to recap the present tense in Ich, Wir, Sie and Er. The possible gap filling words are in a table underneath the text. Two texts per A4 sheet to save paper and printing credits!

I’ve created this for Year 8 top set. The game consists of present tense sentences, focusing around free-time activities, and the students have to convert them into future tense sentences.

I created this resource for a top set Year 9 class. It focuses around the Quand j’étais petit topic. There are examples of the present, imperfect, conditional, and future tenses as well as avant de +inf and en+pres.participle structures. At the end, there is also a reminder of après avoir/etre + past participle.

To use at the end of the Geometry module. I designed it for my mixed year 1/2 class, but I think it is transferable to other year groups :-)

This resource was made to support learning of a mixed year 3/4 class. You will need a dice and a coin per group (I used two-pence pieces). The children have to roll the dice and flip the coin to determine which square they are to translate. Translations are either into English or French - just to keep them on their toes!
