It involved data collection, presentation, analysis and evaluation. All crucial geographical skills. It outlines hypotheses and students complete a conclusion based on their findings. A great end of year activity when the weather improves a little. Takes about 5-6 lessons to complete.

All the resources needed to teach pupils about the uses and characteristics of upland & lowland areas in the UK. Pupils create an overlay (see video). This is a nice way to introduce GIS. Pupils then sort, analyse & explain the pictures. Usually takes two lessons to complete. Suitable for all age groups & easily amended to suit all GCSE geography specifications.

This provides them with the detail that they need about landfill sites in the UK. Pros & cons & what it is. This information can be used to create a variety of work, but I find that an article works best (included). There is also a SEND article outline. There is a structured Q & sheet and subsequent SPaG sheet that I print on green paper to address the needs of most schools literacy policy. The assessment also put pupil learning into context & can be peer/self or teacher assessed. These tasks actually take about (roughly) 5 lessons to complete.

All the resources needed for the pupils to create a shopping list of the key ingredients of tropical storms. Print off information sheet that pupils use to gain an understanding of the key things needed for tropical storms to occur. Works well on A3. Pupils can make rough notes first. They then create their ingredients list, putting the information into their own words. There is then a sort to complete. S&C can be to sort their work using the keys provided.

A fantastic lesson that the kids loved doing. It involves pupils creating their own weather forecast linked to the factors that influence the weather in the UK (NAD & air masses). They simple read the information provided (I normally print it in A3), make notes on it and create a weather forecast that they then present to the class. They work on their presentations for homework too. Very simple to teach and usually takes 3 lessons to get through.

A school grounds based project looking at if: Natural factors impact erosion around the school more than human? Everything needed is contained and outlined in the booklet. Takes 4-5 lessons to complete. You will have to change the map from google earth to a map of your own school. Worked really well and covers a lot of statistical detail and fieldwork skills.

A lesson that provides students with an opportunity to develop and practice a wide range of data presentation and mapping skills based around tropical storms.

A lesson that allows students to use a wide rage of skills in a really fun and engaging way. Pupils design their character and vehicle and present there characteristics through detailed data presentation. They then lead their troops to the alien base to defeat the enemy. It’s probably the best lesson that I have created and my kids loved it. Best used over 2 1hr lessons and with kids that have a basic grasp of maps and data, but it is not essential.

A lesson designed for all ages on the skills needed to not just copy information. Students have a text and do some comprehension work. They then look at re-phrasing the paragraph and putting it into their own words.

A really fun lesson that the kids loved. They create their own island and use a range of skills to locate the hidden WIFI code . Skills are taught as it is delivered or it could be used for revision. Clear instructions are included or all skills needed.

All the resources needed to deliver a fantastic lesson about how geography helped to sink the Titanic. My kids love this one. Students use the all info sheet to access the learning. This provides them with all of the information needed. They then complete the A3 mindmap. There is a mini sorting activity that enables pupils understanding to be tested (once the mindmap is complete). I have included a simple teacher feedback sheet too. To save time in marking. This is a really fun & engaging lesson that the kids love doing. This is a series of lessons that takes roughly 4 or 5 to complete.

A lesson designed to provide pupils with the ways that London deals with its transport issues. The activities are designed to done off the back of the homework sheet. The GCSE question links well to exam structure and allows pupils to put their learning into a context.

A great lesson that teaches pupils about Rostows model. The lesson has key word analysis & explaining & links these terms to explaining each stage of the model. Pupils watch a great clip and use the structured sheet to outline each stage of the model. Designed for the new 1-9 gcse specifications.
