A complete lesson covering part of AQA GCSE Biology section 4.5.3.3 Maintaining water and nitrogen balance in the body. The lesson starts with 7 retrieval questions based on paper 1 of AQA Biology. It then moves onto the water balance and the ways in which the body loses and gains water. The lesson then looks at osmosis and cells with some review questions. The next activity looks at the way the filter works with an optional diagram of the kidney to label. Again with review questions and an exam question. This is a complete lesson covering sections 5.1.2 a and b of the OCR Biology specification- receptors and neurones in the nervous system. It goes through the structure and function of neurones along with the difference between myelinated and unmyelinated neurones. It also covers multiple sclerosis as an example of an autoimmune disease. The lesson then moves onto the difference types of receptors and then uses the Pacinian corpuscle as an example of how receptors function. It starts by looking at the compensation point and offering students the chance to analyse some data. It then looks at chloroplasts and how they are adapted to their role before discussing the structure of chlorophyll. The lesson then looks at light absorption spectra and provides data for students to draw a graph of the absorption spectra for chlorophyll a and b.
