A complete revision lesson covering the digestion section of AQA module B2- organisation. It also covers the two RPAs (enzymes and food tests) that occur in this topic. The lesson opens with the food tests RPA followed by looking at the components of a balanced diet along with the role of each nutrient in the body. The lesson then moves to look at the digestive system, its components and their individual role. It then looks at the stomach as an example of an organ with its tissues and their functions. The lesson the moves onto enzyme action and the enzymes of the human digestive system. It then covers the enzymes RPA before finishing with a series of exam questions. Includes retrieval type activities All answers are provided and no printing is required Update 11/05/22- sudan III test for fats added Update 08/05/23- changes to reflect return to normal exam arrangements

A complete lesson covering the calculation of Chi square. It s designed fro specification point 6.1.2c of the OCR course but would be fine for any A level biology course. It starts with a reminder of calculating mean and range before introducing the chi square. The lesson goes through the theory including critical values. It then moves on to a worked example. The rest of the lesson is examples of the calculation including dihybrid inheritance. It also gives a reminder of using a punett square to solve a dihybrid problem. It then looks at GPE and how this can be calculated covering the fact that at GCSE students calculated changes in GPE rather than absolute values which are negative. It then looks at changes in gravitational potential and how these can be determined mathematically and graphically. The lesson then moves onto escape velocity and satellites before introducing Kepler’s three laws. A complete lesson covering section 5.2.3 a- e of the OCR Chemistry specification - redox reactions and carrying out redox titrations. The lesson opens with a reminder of oxidation numbers from year 12. It then looks at reducing and oxidising agents using an example to reinforce the idea. The lesson then moves onto how half equations can be used to construct overall equations for reactions, again with students led practice. It then looks at using oxidation numbers to complete equations, including when some species are missing from the equation (such as water) . The final part of the lesson looks at redox titrations including both how to carry them out as well as various examples of calculation including calculating purity and using it to work out water of crystalisation. Aimed principally at KS4 and year 9 but could also be helpful with KS3 It is 18 slides long with presenter notes on the majority of slides It starts by discussing why studying is so important before moving onto a series of tips around good study habits (set goals, plan time, location). It then looks at 6 different evidence led strategies including flash cards, interleaving and dual coding The assembly closes by considering the importance of practice but also looking at mental and physical health
