It then looks at GPE and how this can be calculated covering the fact that at GCSE students calculated changes in GPE rather than absolute values which are negative. It then looks at changes in gravitational potential and how these can be determined mathematically and graphically. The lesson then moves onto escape velocity and satellites before introducing Kepler’s three laws. The lesson includes lots of independent student tasks including practicing deriving the planetary motion equations.
