What is the story of the big equation
A little starter I made for my group to remind them how to read equations. There is a little reminded about what I mean by the "story" of the equation then a big scary looking equation, the students then have to write its story.
Time flies (Circumference questions)
Some questions (with answers) about the distance a fly sat at the end of the minute hand of a clock would travel in different lengths of time. Second half asks for general expressions for d days, h hours, m minutes and w weeks.
Algebraic multipliction
A powerpoint showing expressions being multiplied and divided, students have to work out whats going on.
Prime challenge
Students have 5 minutes to find 5 primes; they will get more points for larger primes; then there is a list of primes up to 1000 so they can check answers
Shuffled up sums starter
5 multiplication sums have been shuffled up, students need to put them back together. Answers come up, nice quick starter
Random estimations
6 questions for students to try to estimate answers for, tried to make them as odd as possible to get them talking. Make nice starters to wake them up and get them thinking
Multiplying by teens quick test
ten quick questions on multiplication of teens, 10 seconds for each question, answers at the end.
Factors test
10 questions asking students to list down all the factors of a number, but they only have 10 seconds for each one, answers at the end
Trigononmetry- finding angles handout
A handout for trigononmetry, finding angles using the inverse of sin, cos and tan. Starter is finding lengths using sin,cos and tan. Extention asks students to design a review sheet for this topic in trigonometry.
Metric Conversions Starter
10 multiple choice questions on metric conversions, incude cm, mm, m, km and kg to g.
Perimeter and Area of Triangles Questions
Some questions on perimeter and area of triangles with starter questions asking students to list as many isoscelles triangle with a certain perimeter and list as many triangles with a certain area.
Angle Challenge
Students have to find the size of every angle on the sheet; they get a point for each one they find; but loose a point everytime they use a protractor ; setting up a nice competition and forcing them to use angle facts they have learnt.
Circumference of a circle
Circumference handout, starting activity is basic substitution, main has some converting of mm and cm to metres. Extension has first 100 digits of pi to see how many students can memorise.
KS3 / GCSE. Box and Whisker with Avenger Cards
KS3 / GCSE statistics. A lesson i did introducing box and whisker plots jumping on the avengers band wagon. Pupils shuffle avenger cards and create a tem of 11 heroes and draw a box plot of thier power and cunning, comparing the two and comparing with a friend to see who has the best team. Pupils then add soldiers and super heroes to the team to see affects on thier plots. Along with the cards i have larder A4 cards for the start of the lesson when i get 7 kids up to go through th efirst two box plots on the powerpoint.
IEP / IBP monitoring sheet
A sheet I made to keep track of pupils progress with IEP and IBP targets. The idea is that if every child in the eschool is entered with thier targets, then each teacher can use the filters to select thier pupils and create a sheet thats specific to them. Wanted to try to keep it to one page so the targets have been coded. I've found it really useful and keep a my sheet in my desk draw and feel it&'s help me focus more on the students targets when planning lessons.\n\nHope you find it useful
Fractions and percentgaes Snakes and Ladders
A game of snakes and ladders where pupils have to answer questions about fractions and percentgaes to either move up ladders or fall down snakes.

A sheet with a load of questions on about laws of exponents and finding HCF and LCM from product of primes.
Decimal Division activity
A worskheet where students have to pick from a selection of numbers to try to create a division question which will give one of the answers at the bottom of the page.
