Dot Marking - Regain Your Life!

Dot Marking - Regain Your Life!

(1)
Tired of spending hours writing the same comments over and over again? Department budget gone on stickers to make marking easier? Dot marking is the answer! Simple and easy to use with a minimal amount of training for the students, dot marking makes marking book almost like colouring in. Simply print off a marking grid for each student, make up the strengths and targets for that specific topic and colour in the dots. Students then copy down their strength/target at the beginning of the directed feedback lesson and hey presto. Targets are in and in a quarter of the time. In this pack are general dot marking sheets - one for graphs, general presentation and QWC/SPaG. These are printed and laminated ready for general use. Also attached are these as PDFs to help print them a better size. In the PowerPoint are some science, topic specific targets/strengths as an example. This makes a huge difference to your amount of marking and you will never hear the words "what does this say" again.

Transcription and Translation Building Blocks Activity

(0)
A colourful, engaging and stimulating resource to teach post-16 transcription and translation. To my year 12 biology students, this was "the best lesson ever" and really helped them understanded transcription and translation. Features: - 16 different student worksheets practising converting DNA to mRNA and identifying amino acids each codon codes for - Block collecting grid for the end of the activity - Print and laminate set of 'blocks' if no building blocks available - Differentiation possibilities - some sheets and start codons, others have repeat codons to make it easier/more challenging. - Crib sheets for both parts of the activity - Full teacher pack featuring pictures of the finished polypeptides, mRNA sequences and the amino acids coded for. This has been trialled twice and all errors to the best of my knowledge removed but if you find one, instead of leaving negative feedback, send me an email and I shall get it sorted ASAP. Best blocks to use are a basic Lego box with some Wilko's Blox added in to bulk up the numbers. Alternatively, there is loads of Lego on eBay at a very reasonable price .
