Year 1 Subject Vocabulary Cards
This resource contains vocabulary cards for the following national curriculum subjects for year 1:
Art
Geography
History
Maths
Science
All of the vocabulary the children will be exposed to and learning throughout the year are included, in line with the Primary National Curriculum.
The vocabulary cards could be used within a working wall/ display in the classroom. The children can be exposed to the words they will be learning about (also helping with the speilings of the words)
They could also be used as an activity for the children for them to find out what the words mean.
Shape Addition
This resource combines children’s knowledge of shapes and the number of sides as well as their addition skills.
Rounding to the nearest hundred
A quick exercise for children to review and practice rounding to the nearest hundred (including word problems)

A quick exercise to allow children to review and practice rounding to the nearest 10 (including using word problems).
Months of the year colouring pages
A4 months of the year colouring pages. Each page has a month in the middle of the page. Around the month, the child could write or draw what they associate with that month, e.g. in January, they may draw a picture of a snowflake. A fun and simple actiivty to help with learning the months of the year.
I can compare and classify 2D shapes
A complete lesson including lesson PowerPoint and worksheet to meet the objective: ‘I can compare and classify 2D shapes’.
Supports students understanding of 2D shapes- key vocabulary such as names of shapes, sides, vertices and lines of symmetry.
Shape symmetry
This activity will support children’s understanding of Line Symmetry. Children have to complete the missing half to complete the shape- making sure that it is symmetrical- the same on both sides.
Subtraction Square
Complete the subtraction square- supports children’s understanding of subtraction facts. Fluency practice.
Subtraction to 10 and 20
Missing number problems, allowing children to practice their subtraction facts using numbers up to 10 and 20
0-20 Picture Matching Activity
Matching activity using the numbers 0-20.
Match te number card to the correct number of dots.
If printing multiple sets, I would recommend using a different colour paper for each set.
Addition to 10 and 20
Missing number problems, allowing children to practice their number bonds and number facts to 10 and 20
Addition Square
Complete the addition square- supports children’s understanding of addition facts using the numbers 1-10 and then 10-20. Once children have a solid understanding of adding numbers using 1- 10- the biggest sum here would be 10+10, they can then move onto adding numbers 1-20.
I can read and write numbers to 20
In the year 1 curriculum, by the end of the year, the children need to be able to read and write numbers to 20 in numerals and words. This resource allows children to practice tracing the numbers in words and numerals and then by themselves. It also supports their development of counting skills. The activity booklet could be used as morning work, or perhaps for early finishers.
Array Matching Cards
A simple activity to support children’s understanding of early multiplication with the use of pictorial representations- arrays. Match the array card to the repeated addition sentence and the multiplication sentence.
Name the Colour Activity
Expressive Arts and Design- match the name to the colour. A word bank is provided at the bottom of the page to support.
Find 1/2 of a shape
An activity to support children’s understanding of recognising a half in different ways. Shade in one half of each of the different shapes.
English to French Vocabulary cards and activity sheets
English and French vocabulary cards for the days of the week, months of the year and numbers 1-20. Match the English to the French. Also comes with activity sheets to clarify understanding.
Number boards 1-10
10 colourful and visual boards to show different reprenentations of the numbers 1-10. A visual tool for an early mathematics display or can be used for children individually to support their understanding of number.
