KS4 electrolysis worksheet - AQA or Edexcel

KS4 electrolysis worksheet - AQA or Edexcel

(0)
Perfect practice for electrolytic products. I have included two differentiated sheets - one foundation and one higher tier. I use the foundation sheet with my bottom set foundation year 10 to help cement the concept of predicting the product of molten and aqueous electrolysis at each electrode. This is something that, with a little practice, they can easily pick up marks on. For my higher ability groups, I either use the foundation sheet as a starter, or the full higher tier sheet as a consolidation task with my triple group to help those who are a little unsure. I sometimes use it as a task weeks later after having taught the content to my triple group to check recall skills. I then use the foundation sheet as a year 11 starter with my triple groups for further recall. Answer sheets included.

The Mole Chain GAME - New Syllabus

(0)
New Syllabus Mole Chain game - ideal for lightening quite a dry topic and perfect for recap / revision at the end of the mole or before a test. Cut out each question-answer tile along the thick lines and distribute to the pupils. The person with the start card begins by asking their question, and the person with the answer calls out their answer and then reads their question, and so the chain continues. The Q-A chain is set out in flow order on the answer sheet for the teacher to follow easily. PREMIXED! 30 questions, printer friendly.

Balancing equations worksheet

(0)
An extensive worksheet to help students balance equations. This worksheet increases in difficulty. How I use: Start by working through the first 2-3 questions on the board, showing a step-by-step method of balancing and explaining the principles behind why we balance - nice link to conservation of mass. Let students work through at their own pace, whilst circulating the room to pick up issues. Prices/points for anyone that correctly finishes the sheet.

Christmas Chemistry Worksheet - chemical name match up

(0)
Christmas Chemistry worksheet on the different names and formats a students may come across for the same chemical (ie acetone and propanone) Light worksheet for the last lesson of term that raises awareness of different names and terms for the same chemical by matching the different names in a Christmas cracker theme. Very good for raising awareness of something that is not studied in its own right. Also a useful revision tool for A level students - you would be surprised how many will not know acetone is propanone! This versatile worksheet can be used as a quick exercise by joining the two answers using a line or by colouring the answers the same colour, or can be turned into a longer exercise by cutting and sticking the answers in the correct formation in the students' books.

This worksheet offers some differentiation through the extension question, which can either be assigned to the higher-level students in a mixed ability class, or otherwise left for fast-finishers to ensure every student is engaged at all times. Great refresher for A-level students after the Summer holidays. Printer friendly with answer sheet. Good for homework.

(0)
A simple worksheet requiring the students to assign a word to each pre-written definition. This is a quicker alternative to the classic cut and stick, allowing your students to spend more time learning Chemistry and less time perfecting cutting skills! Differentiated version encourages the low ability students in a mixed ability class to participate, for an inclusive classroom.

Solids, Liquids and Gases pre-test NEW SYLLABUS

(0)
Pre-test for solids, liquids and gases topic. Designed to run as an interactive presentation, with students writing their answer (A, B, C or D multiple choice) on a mini-whiteboard and hold up answer. This provides the teacher with instant feedback, puts less pressure on individuals as more anonymous answering and gives every child a chance to answer. Perfect for testing existing knowledge before beginning the SLG topic, highlighting areas of weakness that need attention, strengths that just need a light covering, and any misconceptions. Also useful at the end of the topic as revision, or run at both the beginning and end to show any improvement.
