This resource is intended to be used during tutor time - works best for vertical tutoring - in the run up to Christmas as a light, competitative activity to get students talking about books!

The books are a diverse and inclusive collection that are appropriate for Year 10 and 11 readers.
The poster is intended to concrete students’ knowledge and understanding of the set texts and are ideal for More Able students wanting to read around their subject. There are, however, at least one more accessible text for SEN students or lower ability readers for each set text.

All books are young adult, appropriate for students ages 14+ years, due to some of the content and themes of the books. But all are well-written, quality and diverse texts that I would recommend readily.
In addition, if they are on accelerated reader, then I have made a note of this alongside the book.
Verse novels have become very popular with publishers and readers, particularly over the past five years. They offer a new, original way of reading verse and poetry, so can be a great way to encourage reading for pleasure.
