Make 'n' Break- A Version of LEGO® Based Therapy- Practitioner Resource Pack
Make ‘n’ Break- A Version of LEGO® Based Therapy- Practitioner Resource Pack
LEGO® Based Therapy is tailored for upper KS1. When some children struggled with it, I introduced Make ‘n’ Break as an alternative. While sharing the same concept as LEGO Based Therapy, Make ‘n’ Break operates at a simpler level.
LEGO®-based therapy entails cooperative play, with children coming together to construct and create.
By engaging in this activity, children can enhance a variety of crucial skills:
Collaborating effectively
Taking turns
Sharing common interests
Celebrating achievements together
Enjoying shared experiences
Learning specific social skills like greetings, eye contact, and sharing
Understanding and abiding by social and group rules
Switching roles
Paying attention to a shared activity
Observing and responding to others in collaborative play
Practicing reciprocity
Improving listening and communication skills
Furthermore, this activity also addresses more advanced skills, including:
Resolving conflicts for mutual benefit
Expressing thoughts to others
Receiving feedback from peers
Negotiation skills
Understanding the importance of compromise
The pack includes the resources you need to run a successful group.

These are a great resource for those who find it hard to stop what they are doing if they haven’t finished the task or have something to say.
