A comprehensive 12 page whole school CPD booklet focused on: Setting up collaboration research groups amongst your staff focused on school key priorities Research cycle and forms for groups to complete Rationale on introducing research groups A focus on Solution Focused Coaching to assist with research, including a detailed rationale. I have introduced this across two schools in the past, including one outside of my trust. The document is editable for leaders to amend priorities and add names of teachers. A great starting point for AS revision. Print off on an A3 sheet. - Get pupils in pairs to describe the main events of the period in chronological order -Split class into teams add further details to the timeline in terms of themes of study, e.g. communist governments or industrial and agricultural changes. Works well if teams use different highlighters and colours representing the themes. Good for peer teaching and setting the scene.

An assembly about the dangers of fireworks and points to consider for children when watching and using them.

An assembly that looks at how experiences and effort can affect the brain. Also includes: - A look at Neuroplasticity and learning - Genes and environmental influences on our brain development - Links to research in the PP notes

An assembly that explores friendship slightly differently than usual. Its split into sections: - Unusual friendships - Unknown friendships - Pet relationships - War

An assembly that looks at the importance of communication skills and how employers value it. Also includes ways pupils can improve their skills through lessons and a challenge for them to complete over the following week. I have included a snap shot of an inspirational story with a video link but this can easily be left out and discussed instead. Finally there are references to growth mindset throughout.

An assembly that can be aimed at pupils from KS2 upwards. Explores the idea of friendship through real life stories and the many different ways it can manifest. Themes explored include friendship in times of extremes (POW camp), Olympic athletes and also historical using a story from ancient Greece. Links to further information, explanations and clips can be found in the note section of the slides.

I have used this simple activity for the past few years as an introduction to History in year 7. Though it can be adapted for other subjects. Give pupils 10 minutes to walk around and find people who they a share a hobby etc with. Put a cap on naming the same person twice to avoid friendships. Then go through each question and get their views. This is where you can discuss social History and tell them about topics they are going to learn about.

A two page homework task that gets pupils to attempt a series of inference questions based on posters from WWI and WWII. This is good as an introductory homework which can then be followed up the next lesson with some self and peer marking.

A double lesson on Operation Mincemeat. The story of how the British used the body of a dead tramp to trick Hitler into thinking the Allies would attack at a certain location in the Mediterranean. The lesson has a link to the BBC documentary on YouTube (look in notes on PP slide) and a data capture sheet for pupils to complete afterwards.

An assembly about prayer and how different beliefs practice it. I have taken the angle of discussing similarities and differences and introduced the idea of atheist prayer (a thunk). There is a link to a clip from a Christian discussing why prayer is important to them. Notes and knowledge are included in the notes section of the slides. This could also be used as a presentation in a lesson.

A fully resourced review lesson on the Norman Conquest that helps pupils recall and reflect on castles, feudal system, Domesday Book and the Church. Activities are group and individual focused with a dice activity that gets pupils to think more deeply about the idea of control.

Though this is designed for History, it is adaptable for any KS4 and 5 subject. I found parents were really positive to have an A5 sheet to take away with key dates of the exams, links to revision websites/text and other information such as the specification.
