SHOWCASING EXCELLENCE IN OUR SCHOOLS!!!
Inside this packet you will find a variety of Core and Specialist Class Award Certificates that highlight many of the “general core” and “extension” classes that are currently taught in schools at the elementary and middle school level. Inside you will find 21 colorful and attractive preset subject certificates including: Art, Band, Computer Lab, Counselor, Drama, French, Health, History, Language Arts, Physical Education, Math, Math Lab, Music, Reading, Science, Science Lab, Stem Lab, Social Studies, Spanish, Technology and Writing. You will also find 3 unique, adaptable School Award Certificates that you can name and describe yourself.
All 21 of School Award Certificates (in the PowerPoint file) give you the ability to electronically input student and teacher names and the date of the award presentation. The 3 adaptable awards also provide text boxes for you to name and describe your own “distinctive” award. The attractive backgrounds and “cutting edge” images are set in all of the certificates. A PDF file of the 21 preset awards is also included with fill lines that allow you to input names using a pen or marker in the case that you have a lot of students to recognize and speed an efficiency in completing the certificates is important to you.
These School Awards are an excellent way to recognize students that exhibit praiseworthy class achievement, behavior and actions and you can use them throughout the school year after units, grading periods or semesters for a variety of purposes. They also make great “end-of-the-year” celebration keepsakes that students and parents will cherish for years!
The following activity; “Shapes I See…Energize Me” is a “high energy, fun and organized” classroom activity that gives your students a chance to move their bodies in a number of ways, while learning to recognize basic shapes.
Shapes I See…Energize Me does not require any equipment and can be used as a “Brain Break” or as a functional, shape recognition lesson. It can also be utilized in the gym or outside by a classroom or PE teacher if students need to move their bodies in a larger space.
You can show the cards and do a whole group activity where all of the students perform the same movement at the same time (while you reinforce shape recognition). You could also set up “station” or “center” areas throughout the room and have your students rotate to each shape card and movement.
Print out the Shapes I See…Energize Me 8 ½ by 11 sheets, fold them in ½ at the line to produce a double-sided item and then laminate them. Using cardstock paper makes for a sturdier product. Cut a hole in the top left side of the ½ sheet, double sided cards. Put a ring in the hole and you are ready to go.
ALIGN COMMON CORE MATH STANDARDS IN PE
Inside this packet are two Curriculum Connection Signs/Posters for integrating math into physical education. The 2 posters (Kdg. to 2nd and 3rd to 5th) identify 2 Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practice for each grade level and provide basic examples of how we can align to the CC math standards with simple PE activities in our daily lessons. The stated PE math applications are simple to do and in most cases we as physical educators, are already incorporating these activities.
These signs or posters can be posted in your gyms or hallways leading to your gym entry door and can be displayed for all to see as a testament to how we can integrate academic subject standards into the curriculum we teach. Many of the Math integration activity examples can be easily fused into the fitness and skill-based activities that you are already teaching. By starting a count at a higher number or converting measurement from inches to centimeters you are hitting Common Core Curriculum Math standards that will assist the homeroom teacher during their daily math lessons. What we do in the gym is “real” and can be considered math with real-life application for our students. It is a “Win-Win-Win” for us, the classroom teachers and of course our students. Administrators and parents will love to read these signs/posters and they will automatically bring up a positive conversation.
These PE printables come in both a PDF and JPEG format and automatically print on a 8 ½ by 11 inch sheet of standard copy paper but can easily be “blown up” into a large sign or a poster size document (with a school or store poster maker) for all to see. Print, laminate, post and keep for years to come.
