Use this chatty mat to encourage your pupils to speak more French! Print off and laminate the mat, hand out to pupils or one to a table, and reward when pupils use the mat throughout the lesson!
The resource includes both an editable and non editable version of the mat so you can adjust it to suit your purposes.
Edit Accents have been added on ‘où’ and ‘s’il te plaît’ - my apologies for these errors.
A HUGE thank you in advance if you buy this resource!

This resource kit involves a Powerpoint Presentation including 8 resources for use in consolidating French food vocabulary, with the focus on fruit and vegetables. The 8 resources include 1 listening exercise, 1 writing exercise, 1 oral activity and 5 reading exercises and are as such:
‘La Pizzeria’ Listening Exercise
‘La Pizzeria’ Writing Exercise
The Blind Pizzeria Game Oral Activity
Colour Match! Vocab Exercise Sheet
Fruit Match Up Exercise Sheet
Vegetables Match up Exercise Sheet
J’aime Manger Match Up Exercise Sheet
Word Cloud Mini Cards
The listening exercise involves asking the pupils to become top chefs in a pizzeria! Pupils must create (draw) a pizza and its toppings by listening to the instructions of very angry customer (the teacher)! A creative exercise which keeps the pupils occupied and allows them some creative license! Approx. duration: 10 minutes.
The writing activity asks pupils to write five sentences based on the listenign exercise and the construct ‘Sur ma pizza, je veux…’ NB: Good exercises for the use of vouloir.
The oral activity is again based on the listening exercise, pupils pair up and one describes their pizza while the other draws it - EYES SHUT!
There is an MS Word document of the worksheets mentioned in the PowerPoint, which are all half A4 size, making this kit more economical and photocopy friendly.
Four of the reading exercises are worksheets using the food vocabulary learnt, ideal for starters or plenaries. The fifth is a word cloud which can be used as a fantastic revision activity, they are extremely versatile!
I created the resources for use with a lower Year 9 class but these exercises can be done by any year learning the vocab.
Where possible I have included ideas for differentiation and extension.
The PowerPoint is fully editable so if you would prefer to alter any of the exercises you can do so.
I really hope you are happy with your purchase and the exercises contained in the resource kit. All the best!
Starter PPT activity
Work out the time by using the reflection in the mirror - useful as a retrieval practice for whole hours, both a.m. and p.m. so the students can practice the 24 hour clock too.
6 questions; feel free to edit the time to include quarter past, half past, quarter to etc.
Fully editable. Uses a fun gif for the mirror reflection to give the PPT an up-to-date feel.
PPT includes:
Starter activity - image of a piece of fruit with two written options underneath - use of gif to create modern feel.
What’s in my basket? Game. Students have to read out what’s in the basket each time as new items are added (like the ‘In my suitcase there is …’ game). Gradually building a long sentences of items - delete the hint box of text on the right for higher difficulty.
The final slides focus on likes and dislikes and some translation sentences.
In order to retain the popular font on these slides I have used images for the text. Should you wish to edit all you need to do is delete the image of the text and underneath lies the text boxes for you to edit!
*PS - the tomatoes are technically outside the basket… it’s up to you if you want to include them ;) *
Knowledge Organiser - Sentence Builder
Based on the Conti Method, I have collated the vocabulary and integrated both ‘manger’ and ‘boire’ onto the same knowledge organiser to have everything in one place.
This is a game for use with KS3 French, I used this with year 9 as a Starter activity and it went down really well. Covers the topic of job roles and use of the modal verb 'vouloir'. Also makes reference to spelling changes with gender. Prepared in conjunction with Studio 3 Rouge, Module 3 ‘À l’horizon’ pg 55.
Prepared with a class size of 32 in mind but can easily be modified to any class size by altering number of slides in use.
The Simpsons are a brilliant tool to use when exploring job roles as there is a character for most job types in Springfield, and of course it's very well known! Includes bonus slides on Sylvain Chomet and the special Sofa Gag he did for the Simpsons to tie in with French culture!
Great resource for use as a starter, plenary or revision activity. Pupils must match the French phrase with the English. Download includes a PPT version of the activity with answer slide as well as an MSWord version for ease of use.
I try to make resources as printer friendly as possible.
Thank you for checking out this resource!
