I have over 30 years’ experience in a work environment. Prior to undertaking my PGCE, I worked for Barclays Bank for 19 years where I held the position of Senior Community Banker. My roles and responsibilities here included problem solving, working with families and local businesses, to ensure they achieved their potential. My role also gave me the opportunity to teach life and money skills in schools ranging from primary to university. Although I trained to become a primary teacher in 2001, I was unfortunately unable to complete my studies due to critical illness. However, after successful treatment and raising my family, I have returned to teaching 20 years later to fulfil my lifelong ambition. Currently, I am teaching a year 3 class at Carlton Junior and Infants School, Dewsbury as the final part of my PGCE. I have also undertaken a placement at Castle Hill Special School, where I taught children from the age of 5-11 years, in a mixed ability class of ten children.
