Tutorial and revision aid for Year 12 Ancient History "Cities of Vesuvius" unit with the names of some of the architectural features that students will need to know for the HSC exam and related learning activities.

Attached is a snapshot of a SmartNote gallery sort activity (because TES won't allow upload of the interactive file type). This file can be used as a content checklist for students when they are composing their own postcard. This (originally interactive) activity was created and used with a Year 7 Literacy class where they were required to write a postcard from '1000 years into the future" while "holidaying on another planet in the solar system" as part of their 'Space' unit which included fiction and non-fiction texts.

Study of the site of Akrotiri on the ancient island of Thera (modern-day Santorini)is one of the "Site Study" options in Yr 11. Attached are a range of resources including programs, syllabus information and tutorials and activities. A fascinating topic due to the island's cataclysmic destruction by volcano, which makes it an excellent foundation for the Yr 12 core "Cities of Vesuvius". Links also to "Atlantis" myth. Also fascinating because of Thera's contact and probable links with the Minoans and Egypt. Lots of ethical issues too because of the nature of 'restoration' of the site.

A tutorial and related worksheet and activities to introduce the Depth Study option 1a (Western and Islamic World: Vikings) Yr 8 History. Some parts have been based on a TES Vikings introduction I found on this site (but I significantly adjusted and augmented it to add more detailed overview information and active learning activities). I have created and added a related worksheet and related learning activities. I have tried to make it a much more active learning activity than it was in its original form. A timeline activity for the main information for foundation of the 18th Dynasty and the founding of the New Kingdom Period. Works as a complement to Antiquity 2 textbook but can work on its own or another textbook because of the word box. This timeline summaries many pages of the textbook and also provides modelling to students on how to summarise to create manageable study notes.

A revision summary tool for Year 11 Ancient History topic 1a- History, Archaeology & Science. All required content and skills from the syllabus are listed in table format for students to use to revise and summarise work and add relevant source information. Focus questions for writing practice are also included. Use of this tool will thoroughly prepare students for examinations.
