LESSONS:
INTRODUCTION TO FLIGHT: Looks at maps of the UK, Europe, USA and the world - encouraging children to discuss which modes of transport would be suitable for getting to different places. Introduces flying as the best kind of transport for travelling to places far away. (17 slides)
THE AIRPORT: A look at different things that are seen when travelling through the aiport, with pictures, descriptions and explanations. Explains the airport terminal, inside and outside; checking in; check in desk; baggage; baggage handlers; boarding card/QR scan; security; departure lounge; information boards; departure gates; boarding the plane; the runway; air traffic control and luggage carousel. Introduction to reading and writing sentences PowerPoints and worksheets US version
These resources introduce the concept of a sentence and explain how to become a great sentence writer. Includes PowerPoint lessons, corresponding worksheets and sentence writing activities.
LESSONS
AN INTRODUCTION TO SENTENCES: Explanation of what sentences are and what type of punctuation should be used. It reinforces the importance of capital letters, periods, question marks or exclamation marks and spaces in between words.
HOW TO WRITE A SENTENCE: A checklist of what is required for a perfect sentence.
I CAN SENTENCES: Simple sentences to read. The spellings get progressively more difficult.
JAKE’S PERIOD: A story showing how important it is to put periods in the right places.
PICTURE SENTENCE: Find the correct sentence out of four to match the picture.

EYFS Phonics resources: Alliteration activity pack
This pack is a collection of PowerPoints and printable resources in pdf to help children recognise the initial sounds in words.
(Not to be confused with later alliterative activities the children do in KS1 and KS2 when they can already recognise letters and read words.)
They can be helped to do this by tuning into speech sounds; firstly with the initial sound of the letter and later by recognising other sounds in word such as the middle a and t in cat.
This pack containing over 40 resources will help children to develop these important pre-reading skills.
ALLITERATION STORIES:
For each story there is a PowerPoint and a pdf game to print. The objective is for the children to recognise the initial sound in each object that the person in the story passes (for example as Ben walks to the baths, he passes a bear, a ball, a burger, a balloon and a bike.)
