An experiment pack for use alongside the teaching of Everyday Materials in Year 1.
The Pack includes four different experients and sheets for recording data suitable for use by KS1 children.
This is part of a series of worksheets on the unit of Everyday Materials as a whole. Each sheet can be purchased separately or as a bundle. This worksheet is in line with the UK National Curriculum for Year 1 Science - Everyday Materials. The experiments included in this document encourage pupils to work scientifically and ask questions based on the knowledge they have acquired through the teaching of the unit.

A fun and engaging card game based on 2D shapes (basic geometry skills). Perfect for a plenary, end of lesson filler, whole class activity or consolidation task.
Each shape is paired with a colour and the words of both the colour and the shape are written on each card to help children with their reading skills.
There are 32 cards - enough for a whole class activity. It can also be played in smaller groups and each pupil is given more than one card, or some can be taken out.
It is a great game for building confidence.
Shapes covered: rectangle, square, circle, triangle, oval, pentagon, hexagon, heart and star.

A round robin type game where cards can be placed around the classroom and pupils must hunt for the card with the correct answer on. Once they get back to the card where they started they know they have answered all questions correctly.
A sorting game for pupils to match digits, pictorial representations and numbers as words (0-10). Simply print, laminate and muddle the cards.
Can be used as a follow-on activity for fast finishers or as a supported activity to reinforce number recognition. Great for children who need a little more time to grasp counting in order.
As an additional challenge, pupils can order the sorted piles forwards or backwards.

Three different games. The first game starts with satpin and continues with single initial sounds. Each game moves through the sounds and digraphs.
Children create a Christmas scene by matching the correct word to the corresponding picture card. If they have completed all of the cards correctly, pupils will create a Christmas picture.
Also good for a picture matching / jigsaw activity.
