A 13 slide PowerPoint designed to inform students about the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Slides include information about the Queen’s early life; her family tree; how she came to be Queen; the actual Coronation; her role as Queen; Prime Ministers; events to mark her silver and golden jubilee and planned events for this year.

The fourth lesson in my literacy series which concentrates on the use of commas. We look at six times when a comma should be used and complete activities to help consolidate comma usage. A worksheet is included for those who would prefer this to writing in books.

The third lesson in my Literacy series which looks at adjectives an how they help us understand the text. I use predominantly with LA KS3. I have found that this lesson can be spread over two sessions if a slower-pace is needed. The lesson looks at how adjectives can enhance nouns and goes onto look at how we can show our understanding of a text by identifying adjectives and creating synonyms. A worksheet for students to write their work down is also included.

The second lesson in my Literacy series aimed at LA KS3. This week looks at common, collective and abstract nouns to give pupils a greater understanding of the language they use. Activities are both collaborative and independent and I include the worksheet that I use with my groups. Good for intervention or general Literacy lessons.

The first lesson in a series of weekly Literacy lessons that I teach to LA students. The lesson begins with looking at what a sentence is with the necessary components before moving on to look at how we can make our sentences more interesting. I use a worksheet for students to complete their work on and this is also included.

A complete assembly to inspire and motivate learners as they start a new school year. Each slide has notes for the presenter. The assembly presents a list of things to do in order to get the school year off to a good start eg ‘be prepared to fail’. Also included is a complete script which could be used for a group of students to deliver.

Information is current and the PPT details the background to Brexit, details of the withdrawal agreement and what happens now that the agreement has been rejected. Assessment preparation and feedback lesson for ‘The Soldier’ - HOW DOES BROOKES PRESENT WAR? This resource contains material for at least three lessons. It was designed for the fourth out of five sets (predicted grades mainly 3s) and was written for an assessment. The first lesson sees pupils completing a revision sheet using previous teaching/knowledge and shows how to attempt a poetry assessment. The second lesson is the assessment itself after an 10 minute starter which focuses on ways in which war is presented. The third lesson is for after the marking and is a ppt designed to help pupils improve and re-draft.

UPDATED - An end of year quiz with a focus on English. The resource consists of a PPT with 50 questions and an answer sheet. Rounds are as follows: Round 1 - Name the famous author (multiple choice) Round 2 - Catchphrase Round 3 - Name the fictional place Round 4 - Name the film Round 5 - Spellings (multiple choice) Answers for each round come at the end of the round which makes it easier if you just want to do selected rounds. Suitable for KS3/4.

A comprehensive, 15-20 minute assembly which celebrates Shakespeare’s birth/death anniversary (23rd April) by giving a brief biography of his life and by looking at Shakespeare’s impact and legacy. Suitable for KS2/3/4. Could also be used to introduce Shakespeare in the classroom. The assembly can be delivered by one person or as a class/group when using the script.

UPDATED! A 20 slide assembly/resource to be used in the run up to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The PPT looks at the weddings of Prince William, Prince Charles and the Queen; royal wedding traditions and what we might see on May 19th. Also, I look at why Britons enjoy royal weddings so much and some basic psychology behind it. Lastly, there are a couple of slides showing the downside of a royal wedding (cost) and a look at a fundraising initiative called ‘The Royal Bedding Day’. The assembly focuses in on the three traditions of xmas pudding, crackers and pantomimes, looking at how the traditions came about and how they have evolved.
