Can be used for variety of purposes, but great as a planning tool before writing or a web to fill in information on what students know about a given topic.

Will use as a start to 'fantasy worlds' to have a character in mind to then create a setting for. Just a bit of fun to start children thinking of silly, amusing ideas.

Estimating volume - to start having a think about capacity. Jug measuring - For top ability group with support, thinking about measuring in ml and counting in 100s and 1000s. Challenging - good scaffold for relevant vocab use. Measuring out into cups - Used for my BA group to do with support. Some time will be needed to collect resources but if you put a note in the staffroom or ask parents these things can be collected faster (then keep them for next time) As said on sheet adding food colouring and sequins makes it that bit more exciting! Children given two different seeds to grow (after discussion) - think about how the bean/flower seeds will grow differently.

A bit of fun at the end of History topic homes - children can be as creative as they like designing a home of the future. For links with Literacy, can write a description of the house and label picture.

An assortment of resources to do with jungle topic. Postcards - used for writing assessment at end of topic. Designing and drawing picture in the style of Henri Rousseau etc.

An overview of the year can be easily chopped and changed as links become apparent. Useful to see thing on paper altogether.

Children in charge of their own targets/challenges and replacing leaves when they wish.

Simple two large circles for children to sort characters into two groups...circles can easily be overlapped to make a venn diagram. Ignites good discussion about different groups as most children are familiar with the characters.Hope it's useful! :)

Cut and stick metals into one group and plastics into another. Simple activity to use early on in the Materials topic to help distinguish between different materials. Good for discussion and introducing new vocab.
