This colourful resource features a fun ladder filled with six kittens, designed to help children explore numbers, colours, and positions.
The resource includes three colour pages, each showing the six kittens in different arrangements and colours, on the ladder.
Each page is accompanied by ten questions, such as “What colour is the kitten sitting at the top of the ladder?”, “What colour is the kitten directly above the orange kitten?”, and “How many kittens are on the ladder altogether?”.
Children are encouraged to both read and write answers to the questions, enhancing literacy and numeracy skills.
A black-and-white sheet is also included, inviting children to colour the kittens themselves and answer additional questions.
The final sheet provides a template for children to write their own questions, record answers, and colour the kittens.
This resource supports learning about animals, pets, colours, numbers up to 6, and positional language, making it a useful tool for interactive and creative learning in the classroom or at home.
This resource features three activity sheets designed to develop comprehension, numeracy, and creativity skills:
Comprehension Sheet: Includes 13 questions based on a colourful ‘house’ illustration, such as “Which house has an orange roof?” This activity strengthens reading comprehension and attention to detail.
Flashcards: Printable (and optionally laminate) flashcards of houses with odd-numbered roofs (1 to 15) for ordering activities. A template on the last worksheet allows children to paste the cards in sequence.
Creative Colouring: Black-and-white house templates for children to colour and number. They can use original odd numbers or switch to even numbers starting from 2, then cut and reorder them.
Objectives:
• Enhance reading comprehension and observational skills.
• Practice numeracy with odd/even number sequencing.
• Encourage creativity and fine motor skills through colouring, adding details and cutting.
• Foster engagement with hands-on, multi-sensory activities while supporting cross-curricular learning.
