What am I thinking of? A fun, colourful quiz to engage your children in speaking, listening and thinking. Instructions are included with this animated power point. Children are asked questions without giving away the name of the object in the picture and they guess / or locate the answer on the grid. There are 3 sets of pictures which could be used as 3 different activities or as 1 depending on your children and their concentration levels. *PCS Licenced - Boardmaker symbols. A fun scavenger hunt for young children and / or SEND pupils using symbols. There is a black and white and colour version of the scavenger recording sheet. Children can tick off the things they find. There are 10 things to find. There is a page of simple riddles that go with each picture and provide clues. You can choose to use these or not depending on your children and their abilities. Use real objects if available for your scavenger hunt, or soft toys e.g squirrel and snowman. Alternatively, or as well as, cut out the large flashcards, laminate and tie/tape these up around the outside area for children to find. Finish with the hot chocolate and then you may want to reward your class with the real thing as a treat for finding everything on the scavenger list.

A useful end of year assembly or / and class resource about Transition. This is a good discussion to find out about any anxieties your children may have about Transition, Moving On or Change such as moving to a new class / year group or school. The slides can be used with small groups or the whole class and focus on positive things as well as those that may be a little worrying for children. The last slide is an activity sheet, that can be printed off, for children to express their individual thoughts and feelings around Change and Transition. You can change the headings as appropriate for individual needs or your class. The PPT can be used with Primary children of all ages and those with SEN. A discussion activity around people who help us and the NHS. Sheet 1 asks children to label the pictures and colour them in e.g. ambulance and wheelchair. Sheet 2 is a word bank for those children who need support with their writing. Sheet 3 is a doodle sheet for colouring in medical related pictures.

This is a fun way to learn about, or consolidate knowledge about the World Wars. Share on the Smart board, on Zoom, for Home schooling or / and print out for classroom /home quiz fun. An answer template is included to write on and an answer sheet provided. For differentiation, you could give the answers mixed up and the children could match these to the pictures. As an extension activity, children could make up their own visual word quiz.

Laminate and add to your writing corner for a reusable resource and for use with dough or plasticine.

A poster showing 30 things beginning with the letter B. Children can write out the words on a list. There are also word cards that can be cut out and pasted to make the list. Play a game where children can time each other to see who can find all the pictures first. Another idea is to choose 5 pictures to write a sentence about or to make into a story. Order the words into alphabetical order.

A lesson linked with Feelings, Emotions, Mindfulness, Mental Health and Well Being and Self-Esteem. This is a great lesson on its own, or accompanied by a jar(empty sweet jar will do) filled with positive sayings, pictures or quotations. Great lesson to start the New Year or Term in a positive way. Children can use the* Postits* on page 3 to write some notes and plan what they will put into their own jar. They can work in pairs or groups for this or on their own. Each sheet has a theme on and off over and under inside and outside behind and in front up and down above and below There are 10 pictures on each page for children to discuss with a partner or group. Each picture is numbered. Children decide e.g if the umbrella picture shows up or down. If up, they can put the number or write the word in the up box. Children may decide an umbrella could be up or down and write in the up or down box. This resource encourages speaking and listening and thinking skills with minimal writing.

Here are 5 colouring sheets. Each one shows a colour version of the foods and a black and white version for children to colour in themselves. This is a writing frame that children can use to inspire them to write about anything. Here the focus is on the months of the year - there is a blank frame that children can use to fill out the months of the year. They can add in how many days are in each month. The second sheet already has the months filled in for differentiation. Children can write in the shapes, add relevant words or pictures to denote each month. They could also add in celebrations such as Easter and Birthdays. There is also a worked example where pictures have been filled in for each month. Discuss this with the children before they start to give them some ideas. These posters make a lovely months of the year display when completed.

A differentiated resource for your work on Weather or Seasons. There are 2 pages of statements for children to read and sort on the 4 seasons e.g. It is Icy in the mornings - Winter I like to eat ice cream - Summer Cut and laminate these for reuse. There is a lined writing frame showing the 4 seasons - children can select up to 8 statements and write them into the frame. Another way of writing about the 4 seasons is the sheet with the 4 seasons pictures and a box for each for children to write the Season words or a phrase or sentence.
