Developing Good Habits: Identifying Response Chains

(0)
Response chains are ways we interact with the world. An event triggers a thought, which triggers an action, which results in a consequence. Children benefit from learning to identify their emotions and resulting actions. This resource consists of picture-and-text cards that are arranged in response chains. This way, the child learns relevant vocabulary, is exposed to examples of typical response chains (two positive and two negative chains) and, if they can read, has the change to fill out the included worksheet to identify a response chain of their own. The worksheet also includes a part on improving response chains to avoid negative behaviour in the future.

Montessori 3-Part Cards: Landforms Drawings & Photos

(0)
3-Part Cards introduce new vocabulary, assist classification, early reading and one-to-one correspondence. For nursery age children, the cards consist of a control (picture plus label), picture and label as well as a control booklet with text on each picture. The control cards are laid out on a working area, for example a mat, from left to right. The pictures are matched, then the labels. For discussions, the control booklet can be used as a reading activity or for the child to double check their own work. Older children can trace and label the pictures and make their own booklet. For classrooms with less flexibility on individual work, the cards may be used as flash cards, too. These 3-Part Cards include the ten most basic landforms: island - lake, bay - cape, peninsula - gulf, isthmus - strait, archipelago - system of lakes One set is simple drawings, one set real photos, which is excellent as a learning extension.
