Five QWC Questions for the new specification for Biology based on AQA higher exam questions. Each question has a sheet containing descriptors which inform students of the question and the content required in their extended answer. The second sheet is a detailed markscheme. It is written to make marking quicker whilst providing detailed feedback to students. The teacher can use a highlighter on the markscheme to identify where relevant points have been made and to show where marks have been awarded. There is a level boundary sheet that I have produced so that marks can be converted to the new 1-9 levels.

This resource is to assess GCSE Biology students on converting mm to um to nm. It also asks students to convert numbers into standard form.

These are level descriptors I have written for the new GCSE levels 1-9. They cover planning, collecting and recording results and drawing graphs. You will find them very useful for developing assessments and levelling pupil's work.

An independent learning acitivity where you are free to visit and question groups. Pupils interpret the images in each box and write their ideas on post-it-notes. They learn to use labels and images and are able to discuss ideas. I have made the story accessible to all abilities. I have included a variety of worksheets which pupils can complete once they have learned the process of respiration.

I designed this storyboard for independent learning. Pupils work in pairs to interpret each image and write their answers on post-it-notes for each box. Pupils use the labels and images to learn in detail the path of a nerve impulse. The worksheet assesses their understanding by applyng it to Christopher Reeve and his paralysis. I have included markschemes so pupils can self assess and correct their work.

I produced this set of storboards so pupils can work in pairs and use the labels and images to intrepret the role of bile. It frees the teacher so you can visit groups and offer support. I used this with a middle ability Year 11 class and they understood and remembered the role of the liver very well. I suggest you tell the pupils to write their ideas on post-it-notes, one for each box and then motivate the pupils to remember the story and quiz each other. I have included the worksheet which the pupils should complete from memory.

Pupils love this lesson. The task is for them to design and make a boat out of tin foil and sellotape, then compete against each other to find out how much mass their boat will hold before sinking. To make it more engaing I've based it around a Pirates of the Carribean theme. The worksheet makes sure they evaluate their own design and the winning one.

I produced this resource so that I could make my lesson on pressure more interesting. My aim was to link it to everyday situations. Students are challenged to explain how the shape of objects affects the pressure they exert. RL.7.1 , RI.7.1 , W.7.1

I produced this set of resources to engage top set students in learning about moments. It focuses on calculations. The handouts are also creative and students enjoy completing them.

I found this flash animation free on the internet and it was one of the best finds I've ever had. You can use it in any lesson when giving pupils 30s thinking time during quizzes. I hope you get as much enjoyment as I have with my classes.

I designed this boardgame to assess students understanding at the end of the subject. Print out the boardgame template in color and enlarge it onto paper. Print the questions onto the back of the cartoon cards. You will need to buy dice and counters. When someone lands on a question mark, the person to the right picks up a card and reads out the question. If the student answers correctly, he/she can move the number of spaces given on the card.

The Powerpoint is a quiz. Students use the interactive whiteboard and double tap on the answer. I have added sound effects to each label. You can tell from the effect which answer is correct. If you enjoy it I have included a similar one for 'Cells

The worksheet for making compounds is to be used during a practical lesson where Mg, Cu and Iron wool are heated in air.

I made this as an introduction to the Earth & Space topic with the aim of gaining students interest. 'Rule the World' by Take That should play in the background. The song matches the presenation perfectly. I have found that the students really enjoy watching it.

Use the Powerpoint to teach students how forces affect speed. If you have an interactive whiteboard, pupils can add the forces and arrows onto the images on the Powerpoint. The video clips are from animation factory. The worksheet assesses pupils understanding.
