This is a place mat which i use across ks 3 and 4 I print this in A3 and then have it laminated. I have one stuck to each desk. The place mat has assessment criteria for NC levelling and GCSE AOBs. the other side has an area which can be used as a student white board with keywords around the edge. The mat means there is always a visual way for students to assess their work and always have the key words to hand. This could be adjusted to suit any subject. In this lesson students look at the work of Kandinsky. They analyse different art works and discuss Abstract art. The practical lesson is based on cards around the room with simple line images on them. We play musical chairs and move around to different cards to create the abstract design for the basis of the artwork. The ppt has the cards at the back to print out.
