For Unit 14 some of my lower ability students found the coursework hard to structure, so I created help sheets to guide them on their structure.
Here you will find support sheets for LAB, LAC & LAD of the Physiological Disorders and their Care Unit.
This is the guidance I have used for the last 2 cohorts at my school, both have had really successful PEPs as part of their overall grades.
I would encourage students to add their own flair to but to use the lay out and structure to help them.
These are practice questions I give to students prior to a end of learning aim test for them to use for revision.
They are broken down in to Physical and Intellectual questions then Social and Emotional questions.
A great first lesson to introduce what actually is Intellectual development and the 5 strands that come under intellectual development. An interactive way for students to discover the different parts of it means it’s more memorable.
This then continues into the different life stages and intellectual as well as going on to Piaget and Chomsky.
There are extra resources including a starter for Piaget’s Schemas and KO sheets for homework revision.
These sheets are great to keep students on track when working on coursework or project work - can be adapted for any subject.
I would give them to students and they would complete at the end of a lesson indicating how much they have completed and what they intend to do next lesson. This allows me to track progress and allows them to set themselves targets each lesson promoting independent learning.
This is a great resource created to give feedback and to help students to improve and identify areas of strength and weakness. This is designed to go with the Health and Social Care Level 3 Unit 1 June 2018 past paper.
These are a selection of case studies designed for Unit 14 - physiological disorders, but they can be used for any unit if needed.
There is also guidance included for students to write their own case study should they wish.
I created this for a day off timetable with students, but it can be done over a number of lessons. It compromises of independent tasks, group tasks, in the classroom and practically.
I like to encourage active tasks hence why there are time out tasks, to get them on their feet and breaking from sitting down. Time out tasks were designed to be done in small groups and standing up!
This was designed specifically for paper 1.
These were created to encourage students to be independent and select areas they needed to work on the most. I would print them off on A3 and then students worked through them at their own rate completing what they knew first then going back and researching/ revising what they couldn’t do.
There are 29 sheets in total covering the following 4 sections:
Cardio-Respiratory System
Musculo-Skeletal System
Energy and Energy Sources
Performance Enhancing Drugs
This is a booklet I have created along side resources and a powerpoint for school. We give students who choose it a 7 week taster of the subject prior to them choosing their options in year 9.
So rather then using exercise books, we have gone for a booklet.
It begins to introduce the PIES, it has multiple assessment opportunities within it, including an end of topic assignment (that links to the coursework for C1)
Enjoy
Within this bundle are 4 lessons, 1 assembly and a work booklet for KS3 - aimed at year 7.
All PSHE lessons have been created to cover strands of the PSHE curriculum, as well as following guidance from The Bell Foundation in terms of topics students should be learning about in each year group.
All my PSHE lessons are planned to include lots of discussions to ensure students are having the opportunity to learn from each other.
They cover the topics of:
LESSONS:
IDENTITY - STUDENTS WILL LEARN ABOUT IDENTITY, HOW IT IS UNIQUELY ATTACHED TO THEM AND WHO THEY ARE AS WELL AS FACTORS THAT IMPACT IT.
NATURE VS NURTURE - TO CONTEXTUALISE TO STUDENTS HOW ‘WHO WE ARE’ CAN BE SHAPED AND IMPACTED BY MANY THINGS
MULTICULUTRALISM – STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT HOW THEIR IDENTITY IS IMPACTED BY THEIR HERITAGE AND THE MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY THEY LIVE IN
PREJUDICE & DISCRIMINATION IN SOCIETY – LEARNING ABOUT THE PROTECTED CHARACTERISTICS, WHAT DISCRIMINATION IS, WHY WE NEED TO EDUCATE AND BE AWARE OF ALL GROUPS OF PEOPLE, AND THEN HOW WE CAN HELP PROMOTE ANTI-DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICE IN SOCIETY AND THE WORK PLACE.
ASSEMBLY:
NEURODIVERSITY (15MIN ASSEMBLY)
