Lesson 6: Introduces students to concepts of sample and target population, bias and representativeness. Then moves on to the different sampling methods, (random, systematic, stratified, volunteer) with strengths and weaknesses. (Systematic, type students names from register).

Lesson 4: Methods of control, standardised procedure, counterbalancing, random allocation (also squeezed piloting on at the end). Practical activity where students are randomly allocated to be given a sweet or not. Application to research investigation where students are asked to apply which methods of control must be used as a plenary exercise.

Lesson 3 (possibly 4 depending on ability) introduces students to repeated measures, matched pairs, and independent groups with evaluation. Can be done teacher lead or print off slides and students move around the room and make notes/experts on a table style activity where they teach others the design they have been given. Lesson 2: Introduces students to the nature of experimental methods, then students complete a carousel activity on the different types of experiments (Lab, field, natural).

I put together this small work booklet to accompany the memory topic. We watched this in the last 3 lessons before Christmas. You will require Disneys Inside Out. Approx 3 lessons, starters and activities to accompany DVD. The students really enjoyed this - you could make more of the review activity by booking the library and making them write it in the style of a newspaper activity.

I made these questions myself as a way of assessing the students learning at the end of the memory topic. There is no mark scheme.

Lesson 6 - Goes through retro and proactive interference. Includes evaluation and examples and questions.

Lesson 5 - Students recreate Loftus and Plamers car crash study. Watch a TED talks video (17 min) about false memories with set questions and answers. Evaluation of false memories and twitter plenary.

Lesson 4 - Lesson goes through Bartett's War of the Ghost - with worksheet and evaluation. Influence of schemas on memory. Application based plenary.

Lesson 3 - looking at different types of LTM (episodic, semantic, procedural) delivered as a carousel activity with students moving around the room making notes on an A3 table. Application question to assess knowledge,

Lesson 2 -Lesson introduces MSM and features (capacity/duration) with mini experiment. Murdock's serial position effect study - students read and answer comprehension questions - challenge sheet for high ability students. Application questions to test knowledge and dominoes for plenary (if your students have completed the memory topic).

First lesson on memory - going through expectations, input, encoding, storage retrieval. Discussing why memory important for survival. (50 min)

2 lessons worth of material. Goes though types of correlations, when to use correlational analysis, correlation is not causation. Students can conduct a practical to see if personality score correlates with saliva production. You will need to have lemons for this activity. I was observed with this lesson and received really positive feedback.
