First, start with this video overview: Spanish-Speaking Countries of the World! Then, introduce your students to all 21 Spanish-speaking countries of the world using this country fact sheet activity. (Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Spain, Equatorial Guinea) Print out all 21 pages and assign one country to each student. (Or, focus on only a few countries at a time and have students work in small groups.) Students will first have to do simple research on their assigned country and fill out their country fact sheet. Then, students will fill in all of the blanks on the country fact sheet and color the flag, the map, and draw pictures with labels where needed. Use this fun “FamilyTree” activity to help your students learn the members of a family in Spanish! First, watch this YouTube video to review Spanish family vocabulary: MI FAMILIA (Mi Camino Spanish) Then, print out the tree on white cardstock so that you have one for each student. Print out the family pictures that you prefer for this activity on regular paper. (There are frames with pictures & labels, pictures with no labels, empty frames with labels, and empty frames with no labels.) Finally, have students present their family tree to the class in Spanish!
