Present Tense of 'aller' BATTLESHIPS (French)

I use battleships for a variety of activities: 1. As a whole class activity to encourage speaking skills. To do this I project the grid on to the board in Smart Notebook. I choose five squares secretly and pupils have to try to guess which they are using target language only. When a square is guessed correctly I write the name of the person who guessed it in the square. When a square is guessed incorrectly I put a cross in that square. The five winners usually get a small reward. 2. For pair work to encourage speaking skills. I print copies of the grid, usually two to a page to save printing costs. Pupils play in pairs, each choosing five squares and taking it in turns to guess the others squares. The winner is the one who guesses all 5 chosen squares. 3. I use the small printed grids for listening practice exercises. On my own sheet I number squares 1-10. I then read out the sentences which lead to each of those squares and pupils have to write the numbers 1-10 in the correct boxes. I then display the answers on the grid on the board. Pupils can mark each other’s or their own

If they run out of colours they could use stripes, spots etc. If you are short on time they could number the boxes instead of colouring them in. The second sheet is for students to fill in the words as they find them and then to use as a vocab list. This is useful for a starter, a cover lesson or a homework

Métro 2 Module 1 Salut! PPT for revision

This is a power point I use to revise phrases of likes and dislikes of activities. It also revises opinions. The phrase in English appears first and the answer on the next click. This gives the pupils the opportunity to give you the answer orally or it can be written down and pupils can check their own answers on the next click. For example the first slide is -to go to the beach- Pupils say or write down -aller à la plage- You can then reveal the answer with the correct spelling. Pupils then get the prompt -I like going to the beach- They say or write -J'aime aller à la plage- So they are building a sentence using the previous phrase. 20 pages in total (including opinions)
