RWI reading comprehension (Book 2) - 12 Reading comprehensions based on RWI set 1 phonics and introducing set 2:

Instructions:
Children should read the short story 3 times. Each time they colour one star at the bottom.
Children should look at the sound in the top right corner and circle words with that sound in the story.
Children read (with support from an adult) the questions and highlight the answers in the story.
Then they write the correct answer on the lines provided.

This 12-page workbook is specifically designed to support children in their learning of the RWI (Read Write Inc) Set 2 and Set 3 phonics program. The workbook includes reading comprehension exercises that focus on different phonemes, including “ee/ea,” “oi/oy” “ay, ai & a-e,” “igh/i-e,” “ow, oa & o-e,” “oo, ew & u-e,” “or/aw,” “air/are,” “ur, er & ir” and “ow/ou”.
First, children read through the passages and highlight the focus phonic for each reading. To further reinforce their learning, previous sounds or tricky words can be highlighted in different colours for revision.
The RWI phonics program has been proven to be highly effective in helping children develop their reading and writing skills. This workbook is an excellent tool to help children consolidate their learning, practice their comprehension skills, and reinforce their understanding of the RWI Set 2 and Set 3 phonemes.
It is recommended to use this workbook with teacher support to ensure children get the most out of the exercises.

5 Roll and Read games to practise phonics and blending short words with coloured backgrounds or in black and white - perfect for printing on your own coloured paper or use white paper so children can colour the words they read correctly! They can be played in various ways - roll and read the row that their dice indicates, roll and write the words on a whiteboard, roll and place a counter on the first word and winner is the first to get 1 row.
These game boards make an excellent center. They are also great for small groups and interventions. Print and laminate the game boards and they will last all year long. These Roll and Read games are an effective way to practice phonics during reading centers, Daily 5 work, and even informal assessment. Are you looking for a New Year’s 2024 activity? Kids will love making and wearing these New Year’s hats! This resource includes 8 different black-and-white hat templates. Simply choose the most appropriate template for your class, print and go!
After the kids have coloured their New Year’s hat, cut out and staple the band from one side. Place around the kids’ head and adjust. Assemble the band to the hat from the other side and let the kids have fun! If one band is not sufficient, just use two bands (extras are on the last page).
