Multiplication/ Division Detectives think boards

Turn your class into number detectives with this thinkboard activity. Shaking up the usual think board idea, make it a detective activity using these sheets to record findings. Can the children work out the answer using different materials? Can they think of anymore ways to find out the answer? Are the answers always the same, no matter which material is used? Let me know what you think of this resource or how you use it by contacting me at @missskippins on Twitter or Instagram or leave me a review.

Ladybird addition to 10

(0)
A worksheet designed for early addition to 10. Children are encouraged to count how many spots are on each wing so they can fill in the parts of the number sentence. After this they can count all the spots together to find out how many there are. This can also be used in conjunction with concrete materials so children can further see partitioning for addition.

Number fingers

Do you find it difficult to keep the correct fingers up when adding, subtracting or counting on your hands? I know i do, so think about the children who are still developing those fine motor movements… Get the same results using these printable hands. Either ask the children to fold the fingers, or make them sturdier by laminating them and adding pipe cleaners to the back of each finger. I’m super excited to see how you use these. Let me know on Instagram or Twitter @missskippins or leave a review telling me all about it.

2, 5 and 10 multiples spinners

these spinners are great. I initially created the multiples of 5 one for a group to have an active, hands on activity for division and with a very basic blank divided by 5 sheet and some cubes they were able to work oit how to divide. I decided to make ones for 2 and 10 to go alongside. Other tables to come. let me know how you get on with this resource by leaving feedback or showing me on Instagram @missskippns

Differentiated Numicon Subtraction

Numicon is an amazing resource for help children to add and take away, this worksheet provides a pictorial representation of numbers so children can understand subtraction in a less abstract way. When I used this sheet, I was introducing numicon as a support for subtraction so the children each had numicon that they matched to the sheet. They started with the first piece, then put the second on top and counted how many of the first piece were left over. This could also be used to help children understand there are different ways to represent numbers. worksheets included are subtraction within 7, 10 and 20. Let me know how you use it by contacting me in Instagram or Twitter @missskippins or by leaving a review.
